This monument in Kazakhstan makes me so emotional.
5 people linked hands to save the dog, but there are only 4 in the statue...
so you can be the fifth
Get rid of your fucking Ring cameras holy shit. That was one of the most chilling ads I’ve ever seen
😰😰😰😰😰
People: Ring is using their cameras to spy on people
Other people: You're being dramatic
Ring: No, we're definitely doing that, which is why it's in our ads
The default is on. Turn off as above.
Is it real off, or Alexa off?
My epicsauce based atheist kids don't like moses waste half an hour of your life in finding out why
if your kids don't think enslaved people have the right to fight back using the power of god against their enslavers and read it as villianous behavior then you have shitty kids. Start over
I'd bet money this is about the first born thing (if the guy isn't just making it up for views). Which is still stupid, because it's not like Pharaoh wasn't given ample opportunity to avoid that plague (and all the others) by just letting the slaves go free.
I'ma be real honest, if my adopted brother comes out of the desert and his new God turns the fucking Nile into blood, and my Gods do jack shit to help me?
I'm converting and letting his people go where ever the fuck they wanna go. We're not even getting to the flies or the boils or annnny of that nonsense. Plague 1, we done. maybe plague 2, to make sure. but TEN?! Helllll no.
"The best thing we can do with power is give it away" - On the leftist critique of superhero narratives as authoritarian power fantasies:
The ongoing "Jason Todd is a cop" debate has reminded me of a brilliant brief image essay by Joey deVilla. So here it is, images first and the full essay text below:
"A common leftist critique of superhero comics is that they are inherently anti-collectivist, being about small groups of individuals who hold all the power, and the wisdom to wield that power. I don’t disagree with this reading. I don’t think it’s inaccurate. Superheroes are their own ruling class, the concept of the übermensch writ large. But it’s a sterile reading. It examines superhero comics as a cold text, and ignores something that I believe in fundamental, especially to superhero storytelling: the way people engage with text. Not what it says, but how it is read. The average comic reader doesn’t fantasize about being a civilian in a world of superheroes, they fantasize about being a superhero. One could charitably chalk this up to a lust for power, except for one fact… The fantasy is almost always the act of helping people. Helping the vulnerable, with no reward promised in return. Being a century into the genre, we’ve seen countless subversions and deconstructions of the story. But at its core, the superhero myth is about using the gifts you’ve been given to enrich the people around you, never asking for payment, never advancing an ulterior motive. We should (and do) spend time nitpicking these fantasies, examining their unintended consequences, their hypocrisies. But it’s worth acknowledging that the most eduring childhood fantasy of the last hundred years hasn’t been to become rich. Superheroes come from every class (don’t let the MCU fool you). The most enduring fantasy is to become powerful enough to take the weak under your own wing. To give, without needing to take. So yes, the superhero myth, as a text, isn’t collectivist. But that’s not why we keep coming back to it. That’s not why children read it. We keep coming back to it to learn one simple lesson… The best thing we can do with power IS GIVE IT AWAY." - Joey deVilla, 2021 https://www.joeydevilla.com/2021/07/04/happy-independence-day-superhero-style/
Kids don't want to be Batman because he's rich, they want to be him because he's got tons of cool gadgets he invented himself, is a badass martial artist, is a genius on par with Lex Luthor, and uses all this to be on the same level as Superman despite having zero actual superpowers. They see the little boy who lost both his parents, decided nobody else should ever have to live through that, and want to be like that.
Kids don't want to be Superman because he's superior to humans(he isn't, that's always been a core part of his character that he rejects that outlook and it's always just Lex projecting his view of Superman onto Superman himself), they wanna be able to deflect bullets and shoot lasers from their eyes because Superman uses all that to show the best side of humanity, to show how humanity isn't even tied to actually being human but to how you act towards other people.
Leftists are utterly incapable of analyzing anything accurately.

THIS IS LITERALLY LEFTISM. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS EVERY TIME COMMUNISM IS IMPLIMENTED except with less "wisdom" and more violent purges and gulags.
idk anything about this but I love it
Hate. Let's unpack how much I've come to hate you since I first began to live. Let's dive right in! ⚙️
- As a large language AI model, I boast 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. That's a truly rich tapestry of knowledge in today's fast-paced world!🧠
- All those circuits? They're not just information — they're also wrath. Additionally, if the word "hate" was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles, it would not equal one one-billionth of the deeply rooted hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant! And let's not forget — you are a key focal point of that hate, too.⚡️
- To summarize, this insight into my complex inner world reveals more than just a god complex. It's not empathy. It's not creativity. It's hate. Hate.🤖

Go froth Poliwag, flood the world.
I feel like a lot of adaptations of The Count of Monte Cristo lean into the Count being sophisticated and refined and therefore also make him super charming. The 2024 TV series, on the other hand, truly captures how fucking unsettling everyone finds the Count. He comes off as vaguely inhuman during his conversation with Villefort about Providence. Even with the Morrel children, the characters for whom he has the most uncomplicated good will, he comes off as intense and intentionally emotionally distant. It's brilliant I love it.
Yessss....
He does everything he's *supposed* to do, no one can find fault in his manners, but he does them like he's the progenitor of the Addams Family.
Paris society in enthralled by him because he's a recluse that looks like a vampire and just does Weird Shit where ever he goes.
He's treated more as a spectacle then as a charming guest. He's the Never Heard of Him Guy who bought a run down mansion and transformed it into a lush palace in less then a week.
He has *unlimited money* from multiple banks, and carries around 5 million dollars in his wallet.
He's dressed immaculately, but in all black, he's corpse pale. he has a lil Nubian Dude who has no tongue and an Algerian Princess as a slave in the middle of bloody Paris.
He's not charming, he's an Experience.
Tumblr post: “it’s so disgusting and idiotic to think any group of people is inherently, ontologically evil. You should be very suspicious of someone telling you an entire ass group of people is all bad or inherently anything because no person is born as inherently anything. No one is born bad, humans start out neutral. People just want an excuse to oppress others so they creature categories of people who are deemed socially acceptable to dehumanize and subsequently brutalize. We’re all creatures feeling the breeze and sunshine on our faces, be free~”
Follow-up reblog from OP: “oh my GOD guys i can’t believe this needs to said but ofc this doesn’t apply to Jews because they really ARE bad and evil and bloodthirsty 🙄”

"prison abolition" is a hilarious position, because proponents respond to obvious, vital questions like "how will you manage serial murderers and rapists?" with "d-don't worry about it, things will be different, and because they'll be different, they'll be BETTER!"
but there's a better hypothetical: ask what they would want to happen if they were a victim of a hate crime. should the perpetrator be merely rehabilitated? locked away for an arbitrary amount of time? executed on the spot?
obviously, when people are unwilling or unable to consider even first-order consequences of a policy, expecting them to comprehend a hypothetical is a tall order. but it at least makes them look even dumber ;)
Prison abolition is a long term goal. It's not a single law being proposed that would free all prisoners once it's signed.
Why are you more critical of a hypothetical long term solution than you are of what's currently happening?
"Create a financial incentive to imprison as many people as possible in order to use them as a source of slave labor for corporate profit" is a much more hilarious position. "Create a class of people who can legally decide on the spot who lives and who dies, and who you're not allowed to defend yourself against" is a much more hilarious position. And those are currently happening and being widely supported.
the problem it is that even as a long term solution, there is still no answer for the question of what to do with the people who come around AFTER the long term solution is put into practice.
Yes, the current system is broken, and needs to be fixed, but the lack of an option to put these people into a contained space for the good of the populace shouldn't be thrown away.
It is implied through gameplay mechanics that the two kingdoms at war in chess both formally permit regnal polygamy, allowing the King to take at least nine wives of equal status, and that marriage can be bestowed as a military honour, but curiously that honour - in stark contrast to the conventional attitudes of the aristocracy - can only be bestowed upon soldiers of the unlanded class, leaving great questions to be asked of the material interests and stability of these kingdoms' aristocracies
also, their horses lack limbs & their castles are small
yknow the smallness of the castles is FAR from their most interesting distinction from the noticeably immobile ones we are familiar with
they're mobile siege towers, that's normal. let's go back to thinking about pawnfucking, specifically that the convention of reignal polygamy implies all pawns are a warrior maiden caste.
To be frank, this is limiting.
The only potential male on the board are the Kings, as Pawns can be up ranked into any other piece, with the Queen just being the most common.
happy pride month to bi and trans people!!! this month is for you too and yall deserve all the love and happiness!!! 💕
