Before Makin posts another shitty callout of Andrew Hussie and Homestuck Team:

Please do not fucking trust the figures mentioned in the callout if there's anything you take out of this. They are deceptive liars who want the worst happening to the official team, and I do mean them literally dying.

A literal decade late and I finally realise that the actual reason Homestuck positions Equius and Nepeta as a matched set is because the author regards them as two different flavours of the same 1990s forum culture archetype. It wouldn't intuitively have occurred to me to group the Hitler Youth wannabe chud who turns every interaction into a giant thread-clogging argument because they talk like a Final Fantasy villain under the umbrella of "forum RPers who keep trying to drag other people into doing a scene with them", but yeah, I guess you could do that?
