AIDAN CLARK has been spotted in town. They have been living there for FIVE YEARS in RIVERBANK RESIDENTIAL. They are INTELLIGENT yet DECEITFUL, as far as newcomers should be concerned when approaching them at ST. MARIE where they work as a PARAMEDIC.
Aidan grew up in a troubled home. His father was a drug addict and his mother a narcissist. Both neglected him as a child, which developed in feelings of unworthiness. Yet socially he never had any issues with making friends, learned how to mask from an early age. If you saw him walking around town without knowing a thing about him, you wouldn’t be able to tell he carries deep negative feelings.
Aidan is exceedingly intelligent, even if he won't show it. He always got the best grades in school and was respected by many of his teachers. Yet none of that was ever enough to appease his parents. That never stopped him from trying to do good for others where he could, though. If anything, it taught him he didn't have to end up like his old folks; that the apple could, in fact, fall far from the tree.
It was through one of his old teachers that he developed an interest in aiding others. The guide told him he was a good guy, compassionate; that he was quick on his feet and possessed good judgement. At first working in healthcare was something Aidan would never imagine for himself, but overtime he grew into it. To him, work felt like a safe haven in some way. To finally feel worthy as he was doing something he was good at.
As a teenager Aidan started to find ways to sneak out of the house, hanging around in different places and getting drunk. At that time it was his way to escape his parents' torment, though it never did a good job at numbing the pain fully. That's when he reconnected with a family member of his, someone whom he thought he could trust. Despite knowing his family's history with drug abuse, he still offered Aidan a pill. Which eventually turned into powder, which turned into much stronger stuff. At every single point the relative told Aidan he empathized with him and that he could help him forget everything, even for just a moment; that it would help him through the agony. The promising words had gotten the best of him, even if it meant abandoning his own values.
Aidan did many things he wasn't proud of during this chapter of his life. He often lied to others, pretending he was okay, and oddly enough they believed him. He never wanted to hurt anyone, especially not those he loved and cared for. The lies were much easier than admitting the truth.
After an especially bad trip following his 29th birthday, Aidan decided to start over. He got clean and moved to Ennora, entirely disillusioned with the world, praying his past would stop haunting him.
