âHeâwhoâ-Dex?â Sheâd had a few drinks and so it took a few moments for Annetteâs mind to catch up with her sisters, âWhyâ-what did Dex do to you? Did he say something? I can talk to Rhys, Auri, if he was rudeâ-but you shouldnât let him ruin your night, heâs just a stupid boy. And Iâm here now, arenât I? Auri,â She whined thenâa family traitâstepping closer to her twin, âTell me what he did. Dâyou want me to hex him?â
All Aurelie mustered was a nod before tears rolled down her cheeks. âI donât care what you do with him. Iâm not talking to him ever, ever again.â In her drunken state she couldnât make herself care about the makeup she was smudging as she rubbed away tears. â--He doesnât want me to be around. So, stop making me have to be around him. Find someone else to distract him from you and Rhys. Iâm not doing it anymore.â
dexhvghess:
He grimaced at her use of his full first name, âPoint taken, Bardon.â Still clueless as to what had triggered her mood with him, he shrugged and instead moved to his trunk, rummaging through before pulling out a bottle of vodka. Holding it out to her, he yanked it out of reach at the last second, holding it above his head with a grin, âNow, câmon, Aurelieââhave I been that awful tonight thaââ His words died on his lips, a frown flickering on his face as she spoke, âDorianâwhat theâ-â He sputtered, a uncomfortable weight settling in his stomach that he neither liked nor understood. Withdrawing, he set the bottle down, âI like âem a little better on you, I think.â It was a strange, terse sort of compliment; one that had slipped out without him even meaning to. Suddenly he didnât want to engage in whatever teasing heâd been trying to do earlierâ-Aurelie didnât want to be around him, after all, and while he was normally content with whatever company came along, the thought of being her second choice didnât sit well with him. âWhatever, AurelieâIâve got a party to plan. Go find Dorian and chase him around, yeah? Clearly youâd rather. Enjoy the vodka.â
She saw it plain as day; the hurt that replaced the usual playfulness. This was what she had aimed for -- the reason why she picked the words she had said and yet she couldnât help but feel bad. However, it was too late to back track and true to herself she didnât back down. âIâm sure you do. Just like you like them on every girl.â She started, tears pooling in her eyes again as she continued âYeah-- whatever, Declan. Not like you really wanted me here anyways. Have fun at your stupid party and we are officially not talking. Ever!!.â In a whirl of strawberry blonde hair and snifling she took the bottle and made for the exit.
dexhvghess:
Well fuck me, Dex thought stupidly, his descent into near panic a swift one. How had his little joke gotten Aurelie so worked up that it drove her to tears? He was sure it wasnât even the worst of the teasing heâd dealt to her over the yearsâ-but then again, Aurelie, like her sister, had a tendency towards the dramatic. But that fact didnât mean that Annetteâor Rhys, ratherâ-wouldnât scold him for making Aurelie cry. âAw, câmon Auriââ Using the nickname heâd heard her twin use too many times to count in an attempt to put her at ease, Dex swept into the tent behind her, âYouâre taking it too personallyâhave you seen Rhysâ abs?â Maybe he wanted to say something so ridiculous that sheâd laugh, or maybe despite his genius level intellect he really was just an idiot, but he continued, âOr maybe itâs my abs you wanna see, hm? Me Tarzan, you Jane, yeah?â He laughed awkwardly, âGet it?â
âDonât call me Auri, Declan.â She hissed, turning her nose up at him as she pressed her fingers to the corners of her eyes. Out of frustration, she whipped around to take in the tent, taking no time in trying to find the booze she was âpromisedâ. âI would rather see Dorianâs.â Her comment carried a little more poison than usual. In all honesty, she wouldnât exactly mind seeing Dexâs abs and on a good day she might have teased him into showing off his muscles-- maybe she still wanted to see them but her pride was hurt and she wanted his to hurt as well. âI doubt you have anything to look at anyways. And if youâre that proud, I can let you borrow some of my crop tops.â Aurelie gave a sarcastic smile as she tugged on the bottom of the one she had on. â--Besides Iâm more of a Clayton in your story, right?â
annettexbardon:
Annette blinked, looking around the compartment her twin had led her to in confusion, âOn whose side, Auri? Weâre the only ones here?â
âThis party is dumb because he is dumb.â She stomped her foot, sending a pout in Dexâs general direction where Nova was hanging onto him. âYou left me all alone with him and then you come back and like his party. How mean.â
dexhvghess:
âHmm,â Dex scratched his chin, giving off the appearance of being deep in thought, âThatâs quite a choice Iâve gotâstay here with you as you siphon off all my liquor, or go and ask Rhys and Annie if theyâve got room for a third. Think Iâll have to go with braving the woods.â He got up, making out as though he was indeed headed off to find their friends, before grabbing Aurelieâs arm and leading her to the tent heâd pitched earlier that day, âDonât say I never did anything for you, Bardon.â He stepped to the side, holding the flap open for her, âLadies first.â
Aurelie stood there, blinking at his retreating back as she attempted to process the rejection. She felt her bottom lip tremble even as he grabbed her arm and tugged her along. âMaybe you should just go on and brave the woods then!! Maybe youâll get eaten by a bear or taken in like the bear version of Tarzan.â She fixed him with a teary glare. âMaybe next time youâre left behind you can go run to someone else because Iâll be âbraving the woodsâ.â Aurelie huffed though she ducked into the tent. Whether he was going to stay or not, she was as she hadnât put up her own tent and this was as good as any.â
annettexbardon:
âGuys, guysâthis is the most fun Iâve had on this train, like, ever! We should do this every year!â
âWhy are you on his side?!â
thegirlablaze:
âBored now.â @aureliebardon
âBored always. I miss summer already..â
dexhvghess:
âSo, whoâs got a tent big enough to host a little get-together away from the professors eyes? Alcohol is pretty much a required part of any successful camping trip, yeah?â
âGuess what.â She let her back fall onto the grass in front of him before sitting down in front of him, ignoring his request for a tent. âIâm here to babysit you because Annie and Rhys want to go make out in the forest and look at stars?? How about you save me with that alcohol stash of yours instead of throwing a party?â
"You can let go now." (Aurex??)
If she wasnât so concentrated on holding onto him for dear life, she would have hit him.  If she wasnât so scared, she wouldnât be holding onto him. Aurelie had a habit of getting herself into trouble with people much bigger than her and he had a habit of always being there at the right times during the wrong moments.Â
âJust give me a minute!â She hissed, hands balling tighter in his shirt to keep him from pulling away. Aurelie dropped her head, letting her hair shield her as she sniffed back tears. âIâm sorry. For getting you..into these messes. Trust me I wish that it could be someone else like...like Kiran or someone.â Still she didnât let go, not exactly wanting him to leave contrary to what she was saying. âNext time-- just go away and you want have to deal with it.â
