Oh man, the possibilities of this storyline.
Eddie beside himself with worry because Buck still keeps pulling himself away, Eddie confronting Buck again and this time NOT CALM, Eddie being afraid that he is losing Buck emotionally, Eddie finding Buck's pills, Eddie being there when Buck is finally at his breaking point.
THEN THE SATISFYING EMOTIONAL PAY OFF.
Good to know that Buck and Eddie's couple arc towards the end of the season is them accepting each other in that couple role.
They are so pulling the trigger in season 10.
Honestly 8 years ago I would've never expected that Buck and Eddie would become one of TV's most discussed and anticipated unresolved relationships. Hell, I wouldn't have guessed that 2 years ago. But here we are. And literally everyone including grandmas on facebook and plumbers called Dave are all frothing at the mouth fighting over what they think Buck and Eddie actually are to each other. But at the same time, there is some unspoken unanimous agreement that no matter what label the show eventually gives them, they will always be each other's person.
Praying that Eddie knows that Buck didn't go to therapy and is also lying about his experience with the kidnapping because Eddie and Maddie were doing their weekly Buck check-in with each other and Maddie told Eddie about the dinner and what Buck said about his experience to her.
Don't shoot me guys but I don't think Buddie's first kiss is gonna happen on screen, and that's OK.
I think it's possible that if they do have a BIG FUCKING KISS it's a culmination of tension from either an argument or NDE or in the fallout of that, and it'll be the way they reveal their relationship to the 118 or they'll kiss during a scenario where it develops the plot.
Because then it reinforces the idea that their first intimate moments belong to them without eyes to see, and appeases the general audience that don't want to feel like 9-1-1 is going through a rapid genre change.
Why 9-1-1 9x13 ‘Mother’s Boy’ proves that ABC and Tim Minear are sitting on a Buddie-shaped gold mine.
One of the most compelling and emotionally engaging aspects of television is a juicy, years-long slow burn: a relationship that evolves over multiple seasons, providing emotional depth and dramatic stakes before any romantic pay off is ever established. Within network television, specifically procedural, the most talked about dynamic in online discussions at the moment is the relationship between Evan ‘Buck’ Buckley and Eddie Diaz in 9-1-1. Since Eddie’s introduction in Season 2, the bond between the two has grown into a central emotional pillar of the show.
The show has already spent years building on their connection and partnership, but the latest episode (9x13 ‘Mother’s Boy’) demonstrated why their dynamic has become one of the most anticipated unresolved relationships on TV at present. Mother’s Boy is proof that continuing to centre Buck and Eddie’s relationship is beneficial for the show’s ratings, narrative longevity, and audience engagement.
Ngl fam I don't think Eddie is getting an nde I think Buck will be all alone trying to save the rest of the 118 by himself and Eddie will show up to help him in the eleventh hour.
I know that Eddie won't re-enlist in the military because he wants to be there for Christopher and PTSD etc etc...
But since finding out that the military will appear in 8x14/15 I just can't shake the thought of Eddie re-enlisting and than going straight back out to LA for an emergency and bumping into the 118.
Sorry to bug you with this but where has it been mentioned that Tommy might come back? I can't seem to find that info anywhere at all. but I don't use twitter so maybe it's there. any help would be greatly appreciated (especially if you have any sources) thank you! :)
You aren't bugging me at all I promise ☺️
Lfjr posted this on his insta story which is pretty much where 9-1-1 have been filming lately too. In the comments there's evidence that his other show is filming elsewhere so it is possible that he may be in either 8x14/15 or both. It is on twitter but I'm glad you're not on there, it's a bit of a dumpster fire sometimes and I tend to observe from a distance.
See I don't think Buck is sad that Tommy broke up with him, I think he's scared because his shield that protects him from confronting his true feelings for Eddie has been ripped away and that's why he is struggling to stay away from Tommy - he wants his shield back.
That's why I'd be ok with Buck contacting/seeing Tommy while Eddie is away.
Maybe this time he is so heartbroken that Eddie's not around that he no longer has the strength to project those feelings onto Tommy and discovers so abruptly that wow I really am not attracted to you.
I personally have zero qualms about Tommy possibly coming back for an episode or two.
Tommy's role in seasons 7 + 8a was to carry forward Buck's arc that will culminate in questioning whether his feelings were misplaced in 7x04 and accepting he's in love with Eddie.
Tommy's role in 8b could be more for the audience's benefit than Buck's: to show us how utterly ok Buck is to be broken up with Tommy now that he has his actual person to yearn over.
Potential scenarios include:
Buck now being self aware about his feelings for Eddie and being apologetic towards Tommy for leading him on (even though it was the other way around)
Tommy analysing Buck's behaviour and going "aaaaah so you figured out it was Eddie all along huh?"
Eddie NDE and Buck going absolutely ape and not giving a flying fuck that his ex is right there because Eddie needs help
Or in a moment of weakness from missing Eddie, Buck relaspses and tries to get with Tommy again and that's when Buck questions the moral implications of that (from one of ostark's interviews, can't remember which)
Anyone got any other ideas on how Tommy's appearance can further cement Buddie as endgame?
Fuck me, going from Eddie saying "this doesn't change a thing between us" in 7x05 to "I know this whole thing between us has been messy and hard..." in 8x10 in a fucking CHOICE.
Even though Eddie hasn't realised/accepted it yet, his subconscious knows that something between them has fundamentally changed.
That is in text.
Hey folks, where can I access an ABC stream from the UK so I can watch 8x10 live at midnight?
buck is literally the only guy ever he brought a corpse to decorate the station for children, screamed like a lunatic when he realized it was a real person, immediately went on a research dive about said dead guy, slipped and fell right after talking about dumb injuries, got laughed at when he ranted about being cursed and then made up a full eulogy to recite at the guy's gravestone, wearing a full suit. how isn't everyone in a 20 mile radius head over heels in love with this guy
The universe does not scream. 9-1-1, S04E06, S08E06 & S08E07 (Sneak peak)
Eddie: Crushes are the worst. Buck: Yeah, whenever I'm near mine, I start acting stupid. Eddie: You're always acting stupid. Buck: Don't think about it too hard.
