Minor pet peeve: Y'all really gotta start looking up when things are invented. I am SO happy about all the new fics in The Lost Boys fandom. Great writing, great characterization. Big fan. But oof. Guys. There was no "putting someone on speaker". It was a landline, you either held the receiver up between the two of you, or someone picked up another receiver in the house. Waterproof eyeliner? That was invented in 2006. 30 years after The Lost Boys. It really only drives me wild because I was born prior to The Lost Boys coming out and I have very vivid memories of the early 90s and what life was like pre-internet and pre-cellphone.
The slang is also positively hilarious. "Cringe"??? No, that's a strictly 2020s word. People were "uncool", "weird", or the f-slur.
Fun 80s words that I distinctly remember actively being used by my older cousins: rad, gnarly, bogus, clutch, ditz, warped, to veg out, scarf down. There's a bunch out there. They just sound boring to 2026 ears because they've been around so long. They were new once.
Seriously, it's not a big deal. I just find it so funny reading 1987 vampires saying "Ugh, don't be cringe." Or someone just "looking something up". No babes, that involved a library, card catalogs, the dewey decimal system, and microfiche or microfilm. And a phone number? That was the yellow pages or the white pages. Boy was it not a good time if that book wasn't tied down to the payphone or if the pages you needed were ripped out. Best to have those numbers memorized.
THIS
THISTHISTHISTHISTHIS
Cannot begin to tell you the amount of time research over even small things has taken up in writing a fic, just to make it feel set in the world at the time. ESPECIALLY THE FASHIONS AND AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGY.
If you're writing about queer identities for a fic involving the Boys, or any fic set in the 80s (yes, looking at you, Stranger Things fans, I know we're a big crossover) then you NEED to do some research into the queer community of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It was NOT like it is today, not even close. Labels were different, flagging/markers were different. The movie was not being made for or played for a modern audience - it was made for a straight, summer horror flic audience of the mid to late 80s. The Boys are villains for a reason.
Anyway. Yeah. And research can be very fun! Go learn about the beginnings of the internet and stuff like 'phone phreaking' - it's really cool!!!
Movie!Dwayne would top Musical!Dwayne

Thomas and Martha are new parents, they haven't slept in three days. Don't get him wrong, Thomas was so excited to be a dad but Baby Bruce has screamed every hour he's been home, he's pooped on Thomas, his spit up in his hair, near pulled Thomas's mustache off and peed all over his last clean shirt. So Thomas Wayne had the sexual awakening of a generation when Alfred Pennyworth showed up, with all his charm, suave sexiness, cute accent and mischievous glint in his eye, acting like such a gentleman all the time, just striding across the lawns of Wayne Manor like fucking Colin Firth in all his Pemberly slutiness, shirt billowing in the wind, pushing baby Bruce around in a pram to get him to sleep.
sometimes it’s They Would Not Fucking Get Married but sometimes it’s just They Would Not Have A Fucking Wedding. send those characters to the courthouse on a tuesday or so help me
#Agreed about Tom and Atalanna
As nice as it would be for Bruce to finally tie the knot and get married, part of me thinks that it just isn't who he is. But he believes in love, he loves romance and the man loves weddings. So if you don't believe the man throws his entire body, soul and fortune into giving his kids the most gaudy, vulgar and lavish weddings Gotham has ever seen, you simply don't know mother of the bride/groom final boss, Bruce Wayne.
Bruce, on a headset: Not fucking poppies I said fucking peonies. Who the fuck has poppies their wedding? Think about it while I handle this.
Dress designer, recovering: So Mr Wayne, the Leavers lace you wanted isn't available but-
Bruce, lowering headset: Make it available, Trudy.
Trudy, sweating: My Wayne, we can talk about the French eyelet lace-
Bruce: My mother - god rest her soul - wore handmade antique lace made by Italian nuns in a Monégasque prison for tax avoidance, my child is not walking down the aisle in eyelet lace.
Dick: Um, B, I don't think I need any-
Bruce: We are Waynes, we have standards. My mother is rolling in her grave here, people. Somebody get me the right flowers, the right centrepieces and the goddamn Leavers lace.
Jason, over his headset: Bruce, the invitations are secure.
Here is how I feel the lost boys would be as boyfriends. (Side note this is female oriented) JUST MY OPINION. Warning:adult themes.
David:
•is a massive gentleman most of all he time but if he’s pissed he will often ignore you.
• secretly loves physical affection, but only from you. He loves little hugs and touches. His love language is to hug you and care for you.
•would often have you on his lap in the caves and keeps you very close at all times, on the broad walk he has to have a hand near you or on you or he panics.
• super possessive, if anyone dares look at you he would be David’s next meal. You can never leave him or he gets angry.
•actually very caring towards you despite his aggressive nature, always makes sure you eat (both real food and blood) and sleep well.
•has to sleep near you at all times, is practically touching you as you hang.
• when you were human he took pride in playing with your mind, as a vampire he takes pride in pissing you off through games and banter.
•treats you like a trophy to the other lost boys.
•if you are ever upset at anything he will find the cause and destroy it, slowly and painfully.
•you are his precious prized possession, this can make him both soft and aggressive at the same time.
•sees a future with you as a wife, is very traditional and wants to be married before anything spicy despite immortality… but when you do he’s very passionate.
Marko
• needs parenting, spends more time being told of by you then actually being a boyfriend but it works.
•very kind and fun relationship, you spend every night having fun and laughing. You do often play fight that does turn to real physical violence.
•wants to play games on the broad walk and have fun. He will win you a huge teddy at least once a month and you have a collection at the cave.
• he loves letting you play with his hair, even letting you plait it.
• he is also very possessive over you, but does not see a future and you have had multiple break ups but always end up together.
• slightly feared by the other boys when you are together, chaos is often caused and you do have a record of arson together.
• he will often favour animals over you, but somehow you still work.
• you do many food runs together, with constant arguments of what to get.
• you have random arguments about the most random things, often dragging the other boys in to settle it. This means they are all sick of you being together but still support it.
•before you were turned he treated you like you were incompetent, after you turned he slowly feared you especially when he does something you don’t like.
•his love language is to banter with you and insult you.
•is always in the mood for spicy time and makes jokes about it and is quite rough.
Paul
• will defend you to the ends of the earth and beyond, no questions asked.
• treats you like a pet. You have to be taken care of by him and he refuses to let you look after him.
•he treats you the exact same wether you are human or vampire.
• is a gentlemen, holds doors and gives you his coat if you get cold.
• enjoys stroking your hair and having you in his arms.
• his love language is giving you gifts, jewellery and trinkets especially.
•music lover, will often play you songs that he thinks you will like or remind him of you.
• is very nonchalant about spicy time but will never say no, can be both gentle and passionate depending on the mood.
Dwayne
• wants children together after seeing how you act with laddie. Doesn’t want to be a vampire after he met you and saw what could be a future.
•before you turned he was distant and cold, after he just wanted to care for you.
• his love language is cooking and caring for you, just wants you to feel loved.
•loves being taken care of, but also loves taking care of you and that’s why you work.
•introvert vs extrovert, he is very shy despite your attempts to make him have fun. On the board walk he will often watch as you go on rides.
•he’s a completely different person when he’s with you alone then with the lost boys.
• has a love of board games and enjoys quality time over anything else.
• would never let anyone hurt you, from the second you fell in love you became his heart.
•has a tough guy act but is a big softy.
•won’t fall asleep until he knows you are safe and next you him.
•is a gentlemen as well as the others, treats you like a queen.
•would never dare touch you without permission and has weekly planned funky time where he is gentle.
That’s all for now!
so batman adopted jason at around 12ish. jason grew up in crime alley and was homeless for part of his childhood without the best access to dental care.
i think bruce spent a small fortune fixing jason's teeth when he adopted him--cleanings, cavity fillings, the whole shebang. the doctor says jason needs braces--something about crowding and bite problems and jaw strain--so bruce gets him braces too.
jason grew up thinking of dental health as a luxury, so he was great about taking care of his teeth--i mean he was religious about brushing and flossing, morning and night and between meals. he was great about hygiene in general, really.
jason never quite got over his teeth when he got his braces off, pearly white and perfectly aligned.
fast forward post-lazarus, jason's body basically got a system reset--including his teeth, crooked again but perfectly healed. jason spends a couple weeks post-pit spitting out bits of filling composite from his healed cavities.
when he gets back to gotham, he ends up at the nearest under-the-table orthodontist--the sweet older lady who helps all the immigrant kids in crime alley from an armchair in her living room and takes cash payments without asking questions. he has enough money for nice teeth now that the whole crime-lord business is off the ground, and apparently his bottom teeth are crowding and his snaggly upper canine is fucking up his bite. he gets himself a fresh new set of braces, even gets fun rainbow colored bands for the hell of it.
at one point, he gets glow-in-the-dark bands.
then the big identity reveal comes around, and jason rips off the helmet, revealing himself underneath, fully prepared to deliver his evil dramatic monologue.
except bruce is staring at him funny.
jason continues his monologue, snarling at bruce who's staring like he just grew horns because his teeth are glowing in the dark.
and bruce's head is just spinning because this is his baby boy--nevermind the fact that he's built like a brick shithouse and waving a gun around. seeing post-lazarus jason with his stupid braces reminds him too much about the little street kid he loved so much, who spent hours grinning at himself in the mirror when the braces came off.
I imagine Bruce getting hurt somehow either a really bad concussion or waking up from a coma or really strong anaesthesia and he's in a civilian hospital with Alfred at his side and he wakes up, disorientated and not quite sure what's happening but Alfred tells him that everything is fine and can he get him anything.
"Babies."
Alfred just nods, excuses himself while the doctor checks over Bruce, asking him question upon question and getting concerned because all Bruce can and will say is "...babies."
But then the hospital room gets flooded by a steady stream of people. Too many at once and the doctor protests. One big bulking unit of a guy tells the doc to knock it off.
Bruce is just surrounded by the kids, Damian and Dick tucked up beside him, Jason stood over him with a hand on his dad's hair, feeling the stitches through the bandages. Tim is practically sat on his left knee, his legs over Dick's body. Steph is sat on his legs, spooning Jell-O into her mouth. Duke is perched on the foot of the bed. Cass is stood by his head telling Jason to stop pulling at the stitches because Bruce's face might fall off. And the doctor is muttering that this isn't good for Bruce, the overstimulation will tire him out but Alfred isn't even listening because Bruce is smiling, just repeating quietly, "Babies... My babies."
Duke, moving into the Manor: Right, so what's the situation here? You know between you and the big guy? Is it like an Obi-Wan and Anakin situation or is it like an Instant Family sort of deal?
Dick, pointing to himself: Sort of son, sort of brother
Jason: Estranged son from a telenovola
Tim: Co-workers turned roommates turned father and son.
Cass: That's my dad
Damian: My mother selected him to conceive me on the basis of his intelligence, mental strength and physical prowess. She has yet to realise her error.
Steph, slipping an arm around Tim's waist, pretending to smoke the lollipop in her mouth: I defiled his third son, now I eat out of his fridge and crash on his couch and now it's been going on too long for him to be able to stop me.
Duke:
Tim: I mean, yeah, that's pretty accurate.
I want Bruce to be more Gotham. He is a billionaire yes, he grew up outside of Gotham and went to private school but the man literally spends most of his waking hours in the city and yes, he picks up certain Gotham habits.
Bruce walking down the street after getting his morning coffee but the way back to Wayne Enterprises is blocked by police tape. Bruce just lifting it out of the way, stepping under, walking through the crime scene sipping his latte, and out the other side, slipping under the tape. A cop asks him what the hell he's doing and Bruce just spreads his hands, shrugs and goes, "Walking."
I've said it before but Bruce being so unnerved by Clark's colourful ways around saying "fuck". Clark going "gosh darn it" or "golly" or "H-E-Double Hockey Sticks" and it just sends Bruce into a different stratosphere of irritation and he eventually blows up at him yelling "just say fuck" and Clark just goes pale.
Bruce hitting up local places to grab a bite to eat or a coffee. His favourite bagel place is by Ryker Heights, that one little vendor at Robinson Park sells the best ice cream and the kids love it, the best smoothie in town after a work out he gets in Burnley.
Walking down the street and there's a Joker gas attack and there's fucking viral footage of Bruce Wayne just whipping a gas mask out of his brief case, slipping it on, picking up his briefcase and striding down the street like nothing is going.
Getting stuck in traffic and leaning out his window to tell up at somebody on a fire escape what's going on up ahead. The woman on the fire escape above yells back that it's something got to do with Mr Freeze that the tunnel ahead us blocked up. "Fucking typical, isn't it?" To which Bruce just nods, gets back in his car and joins the chorus of horns honking.
Dwayne...
When Bruce was little, he asked Thomas when he first felt like a "Dad" because Bruce knows his dad has been so many things to so many people - friend, surgeon, lifesaver, husband, patron - and those are all so important and make Thomas who he is, or so Martha says. Thomas tells him that it was Bruce first clutched his finger. And Bruce goes through much of his teens and early 20s thinking he'll probably die before he ever becomes a dad or feel the same way.
Then Dick hugs him for the first time, it's a fleeting squeeze just before Dick dashes out the door to school but Bruce is winded. That's what it feels like, to be a dad. Bruce has to pretend to be fucking normal for the rest of his existence over that.
With Jason, he tells himself that it probably won’t be the same, Jason finds it hard to trust and Bruce gets that and then one night Jason actually sits next to Bruce on the couch and cuddles into him and Bruce is just overwhelmed, almost in tears and Jason is like “B? You Ok?” And Bruce just nods and goes “of course, Jaylad, never been better."
With Tim, Bruce has guarded his heart against loving Tim like a son after what happened and Tim has his own parents who love him, but then one afternoon, after the Drakes are gone and Tim is just learning how to smile again, he just beams at Bruce after getting praise and Bruce just feels it like punch.
With Steph, he know she has a Dad, a long story he knows, and a mom so he never expects to feel the spark - until one night, she kisses him on the cheek after he says he can drive the Batmobile. It's a mistake, she almost kills them from speeding but Bruce is going through a crisis of paternal love.
Cass hugs him tight one day, yes that panel, and admits her dad never hugged her and Bruce feels such a stab of protectiveness for his daughter that he forgets to think and just holds her like a lifeline.
With Duke, he respects the boundary that Duke is very much missing his parents and that he can never replace them. But then Duke gets injured and Bruce feels a very real sting of fear for him and and when he has his arms around Duke carrying him back, he recognises what that feeling is.
With Damian, he is waiting for that impact to hit again and for ages it doesn’t and he thinks something is wrong with him, that he's just a terrible father until Damian takes hold of his hand to cross the street, because he says "Grayson said it is required when crossing the street". Bruce just suffocates from relief and love, that's his little boy holding his hand.
And Bruce can't comprehend it fully in one sitting. He just never knew how being a dad was loving something so much it physically hurts when he thinks something might happen to his babies. Did Thomas feel it when he knew he was dying and he could not get to Bruce? One night, maybe a little tipsy or concussed, he asks Alfred who just tells him "speaking from experience, sir" that loving a child like true parent hurts, especially when they're too grown up to protect in your arms. It is love so powerful that it kills you every single day and you're thankful for it

How The Lost Boys Smell (Paul and Dwayne)
This is obviously a little idealized because I like pretending that they would smell mostly good
Like I tried to keep it somewhat realistic but… let’s be real I don’t wanna think about how they would actually smell bc it would not be pleasant 🕺
