Once she entered his house, Enzo shut the front door and led the way into his dining room. He had arranged the food options he had ordered from the Mexican restaruant downtown on his table. The male figured Rori knew something was up considering his absence as of lately. Enzo motioned for her to have a seat and grabbed the wine bottle and glasses. He poured a glass for her and himself before sitting down next to her. âIâm sorry Iâve been distant lately, Rori. Things have been uh, different recently.â He mumbled then paused to take a sip of the wine. Enzo swallowed the alcohol and kept his brown hues on the female he once thought he would end up marrying some day. Their relationship had been a wild ride since day one of them getting together, but nothing was never really official or set in stone. Since meeting Rori though, Enzo always had a thought in the back of his head that theyâd end up together in the end. âI wanted to tell you about it. I just felt like you deserved an explanation, amore.â He spoke in a soft voice, his eyes not moving from hers. âIâm um, going to be a father.â

âYou donât say.â She lifted her eyebrows, but the tone was a quiet and soft one. It was a side that she had shown to Enzo before, she could wield it with ease. A fact that wasnât true about many in her life. She took in the smell of the spread heâd put out for the two of them, some sort of goodbye dinner it seemed. Her hands slipped between her crossed legs, feeling tense. The wine glass in front of her was a welcomed friend but she didnât even reach for it. Rori wanted to take this in. She was about to tell him to just spit it out, but as if Enzo could read her mind, he got down to it. The words werenât ones sheâd expected. And eyes wide, she now didnât hesitate to reach for that very same glass of wine. âWell--congratulations.â She lifted it up before taking a long sip from the glass. He was getting the number one thing that he wanted. And that was great for him. It was just never her. It was like the universe kept telling her she was never going to be the one that someone would to settle down with, she was who you hung out with before you settled down. She was who men got out there last bits of unbridled fun with. âHow are you--I mean, are you excited--how--how does it feel?â She stumbled over her words, lifting the glass back up to her lips as she held back tears.
