Hugo paused seeing the other girls reaction he concluded he must have gotten a bit carried away. He took a moment to collect himself and chill out, something his mother instructed him to do when he got a bit wild. He paused before sitting down on his butt as well, before scooching slightly towards her “I guess they wouldn’t be a cannibal, but what does it mean if it eats carrots and other vegetables?” He said a bit quieter but still very interested, and interested in the new information that Aurora offered.
She was prepared for him to laugh at her for being so startled, and was pleasantly surprised when he didn’t. He wasn’t treating her like she was strange, and it brought a smile to her lips. She wiped away the forming tears and visibly relaxed. Her book was laid to rest in her lap. Her words were still quiet, just loud enough for him to hear. “I think it’s like us eating other animals.” Aurora could discuss plants all day. She was truly Neville’s daughter in that sense.
Hugo slinked around a corner in the halls of his school before stopping, surprised to see anyone else in the hallways, surprised to see anyone else in the hallways; not knowing that class had started fifteen minutes ago. In a talking mood today Hugo quietly bounced up behind the other unsuspecting wizard, “Did you know that Chinese Chomping Cabbages have the ability to eat things like carrots and other vegetables? Isn’t that just wicked? But wouldn’t that be like cannibalism? Then that would be like wicked but not like wicked you know? Like a different kind of wicked but maybe still wicked?” Hugo said, his mind on rapid fire and he simply spat out everything that came to his head, barely giving himself enough time to breathe let alone the other person to process what he was saying.
Aurora was wandering the halls with her nose buried in a classic romance novel. She had a free period and was taking advantage of it to head outside with her book. The silence was heavenly, broken up with the tapping of her heels against the concrete, a gentle rhythm as she walked. It was perfect until her personal space was invaded. She scrambled backwards to get away, looking up at him with wide eyes. Her shoe scuffed against the floor and she tumbled backwards, landing on her bottom. Tears welled up in her eyes and she clutched her book to her chest. It was a miracle she caught what he said. “They don’t eat cabbage,” she replied quietly.
“ Uh yeah… adorable.. ” Ciaran’s voice trailed to show that he thought it was anything but adorable. His gaze wandered back to the first years in question and he visibly winced as one fell off their broom. “ Just hope that they get better, ” He remarked, “ If this is all we have to hope for for the future of the Quidditch teams.. we’re in trouble. ”
“I’m sure they’ll get better. It is only the start of the year.” Aurora watched them fondly. It wasn’t that long ago she was in their position. Granted, she knew how a broom worked before she started school. Her parents may not have played quidditch, but many of their friends did. Aurora never took to the sport. She was a decent flyer, and enjoyed watching the game, but playing wasn’t for her.
( CHLOE GRACE MORETZ ) ⤬ There goes AURORA LONGBOTTOM. I hear they’re SIXTEEN, a FIFTH YEAR. Would you believe SHE really is a HUFFLEPUFF? At least, I’ve heard they’re ALTRUISTIC and IDEALISTIC, but they also seem somewhat SHY and PASSIVE. For a HALFBLOOD, I think they’re alright, but you never know.
Aurora was adopted as a baby, and named by her adoptive parents. She has no memories of life before becoming a Longbottom, and no desire to learn of it. She is perfectly happy with her family.
Her parents often joke she must have been born with a smile. She rarely fussed and was nearly always cheerful.
The good-natured disposition stayed with her. She never went through the terrible twos or anything of the sort.
It did mean she was often overlooked. The downfall of being an easy child in a large family. Her siblings often required more attention and she was often left to her own devices.
It further encouraged her shy and reserved nature. She didn’t speak out, and kept to herself. If problems occurred, then she tried to handle them on her own. She was withdrawn.
Yet, she never felt unloved, or unwanted. She may not draw all the attention, but she always felt like she belonged.
She sometimes clings to her older siblings, finding comfort in them. They are able to put words to her thoughts. It’s like magic and she couldn’t be more grateful for it.
Her family and close friends are accustomed to how little she speaks. They’ve developed the ability to understand her without words. She does try to speak more, knowing she has to develop to succeed in life.
Further, her family and friends are exceptions. While she often remains quiet, she will speak up to defend them. She is very protective of those she loves.
She has inherited her father’s love of plants. Much of her time is spent helping him in the greenhouses. She doesn’t want to follow in his footsteps and teach, but she does want to be an herbologist.
The rest of her time is spent reading. She likes romances and happy endings. Her mother used to read her fairy-tales as a young child and she never got over them.
“ Merlin’s beard.. “ Ciaran muttered to himself as he watched the first years. His expression clearly showing just how appalled he was by what was happening on the Pitch in front of him. He shook his head as one of them actually mounted their broom backwards. “ Am I really seein’ this? “ He questioned, “ Did that one just get on their broom BACKWARDS? “
Aurora placed a hand over her mouth to prevent giggling. The first years were so precious. Their naivety was endearing to her. She wanted to help, but knew they were in the capable hands of an instructor and would soon learn. “I believe so,” Aurora said softly, “It’s kinda adorable.”
