Pronunciation of the name of the letter E in European languages.

Once and for all, can we stop pretending French has a schwa /ə/ ? It may have been a common feature a couple of centuries ago but now, /ə/ has either merged with /œ/ or /ø/. My guess is that this map is based on the majority dialect in each language, so in Standard French there are no more schwas. 

Words like “petit”, “rappeler” or “élever” may have originally had a schwa, but no one pronounces it that way anymore. In all three instances I gave, bold <e> is pronounced as /ø/.

Today I had to read two rather extensive chapters on writing annotated bibliographies and literature reviews (never mind that I’m a junior that has definitely done this before).  There was actually some pretty good information, so hopefully it improves my research paper writing skills.
