Alternia, the sun’s age, and the troll evolution calendar

The Earthen sun is like 4.6 bil years old and the Earth itself is about 4.5 billion years old

Depending on what headcanons you subscribe to the Alternian sun may be quite similar to the Earthen sun only much older, considering it’s fostered life on Alternia that spans like, untold fathoms of years I guess

The oldest anatomically modern human remains are what like 300,000 years old. And that’s just a fragment of the time that human life has even been on Earth. But also consider that as soon as the conditions for life were present on Earth, life happened. If we apply the same conditions to Alternia and maybe assume that there was no cataclysmic or mass extinction event which wiped out troll life, then we can roughly guestimate how long troll society has been around 

But also a probable explanation (assuming the Alternian sun is a yellow dwarf as well) for the daylight being so god damn hot would be that it’s simply older and bigger with a larger surface area to increase its luminosity

But this also means that Alternia and Alternians have less time on the clock before their sun eventually swells to the point where Alternia is completely scorched

The longer lifespan and implied evolutionary development of trolls though all kinda fit together with the timeline

Earth sun is 4.6 bil years old and is 30% more luminous now. For every billion years, it’ll get about 8% brighter. That seems like a lot, but that may be what we’re working with. The player in hiveswap comments that the sun is “way bigger than they’ve ever seen on Earth” during Skylla’s route, so the difference is noticeable to the eye

So if that’s the case I’m going to put Alternia’s sun at roughly 5.5 billion years old with 1.08 or so luminosity, and a greater implied surface area that’s 8% greater than Earth sun with a 4% larger radius. 

What’s more is that we can assume Alternia is roughly the same size as Earth, given that the player has no difficulty walking on it from its gravity (that I know of?). So if we continue to apply the same conditions, then logically Alternia is about 5.4 billion years old, and trolls have been around for at least 432 million to  sixteen million two hundred thousand years depending on the evolutionary scale, (but leaning towards 16 million)

If I may, Alternia’s Sun cannot be this young given the way Alternia’s time works, how characters describe the Sun, and how the Sun is depicted in images.  

Earth’s Sun is a type G2V ‘yellow dwarf’. When you apply the changes you suggest to the star, increasing its radius, surface area, and luminosity it changes the class. If Alternia’s Sun has a 4% larger radius than the Earthen Sun then it is likely a type G1V star (or close to G0V) with a luminosity between 1.4 to 1.5 and its lifetime would be about 8-9 billion years. More radius than this could eventually cross into an F-type star which only would live up to 4 billion years. That’s not enough time for troll life to develop and at that type the surface would probably be scorched too badly for anything to really work anyway (Alternia would be too close to it). A, B, and O types are completely out of the question. So we want to stay in the G-type. Alternia’s Sun is depicted as a giant red star so it’s safe to assume that it is already a red giant. No way of determining how long it’s been in the red giant phase, but assuming Alternia’s Sun is a G1V that means it has to be at least 9 billion years old with Alternia being 8.8-8.9 billion years old. Given that 1 sweep is equal to about 2.17 Earth years, Alternia’s likely orbiting around 1.7-1.8 AU from its Sun which is a little more than the distance between Earth’s Sun and Mars. Some models predict that Mars will survive the red giant phase of our Sun, though it will be very hot. Assuming this will also be true for Alternia, this would line up with canon in how trolls are mostly forced to be nocturnal. If Alternia’s Sun recently became a red giant, Alternia will have to deal with this high heat for about another billion years before its Sun will shift to a white dwarf and proceed to cool over billions upon billions of years. It is likely that during this time the planet will become increasingly uninhabitable due to the temperature and barrage of solar winds from its host star. 

With this you may be right about trolls being around for 16-432 million years especially if you factor in the possibility of mass extinctions, but biological evolution isn’t really my field of expertise. Maybe this information can help in adjusting approximations if needed?
