Music and Wellbeing. Can music solve anxiety, reduce it or make it worse? How should a guitar student learn with satisfaction?
This week I have had the pleasure of working with a new guitar student with special abilities and skills.
It is a delight to be part of a music learning process that once again proves to me that the way the majority of us can accomplish goals cannot be applied to music learning so effectively.
A musical portrait of life before the Aboriginal massacre on the Minnamurra River, NSW Australia.
My friend Dr.Jodi Edwards, Yuin Custodian with Dharawal kinship ties asked me to compose music that would reflect the Aboriginal massacre on the Minnamurra River here in NSW Australia by Dapto Farmer Lt William Frederick Weston in 1818 but describing life .Yes life and a lot of it, beyond my imagination. This extract reflects a short humble reproduction of my understanding of one of the many aspects of life and the river and all. The whole suite lasts around 25 minutes.

Life as a musician, the live energy, the guitar teacher, flamenco and jazz, arranging, orchestration, aboriginal dreamtime stories.
have recorded a new version of this track Don’t Start with Me with new vocals imitating Dua Lipa and a totally new guitar accompaniment highlighting such.
I love this song but when I heard it I felt it needed better and clearer harmonic guitar accompaniment.
I felt the vocals were so sweet and groovy that the chords would have to wrap them and make each note of her notes come out with even more beauty.
If you listen to the original track you will hear that what keeps the song together are the drums. So take them away and the vocals will become lonely. Also the guitar in the track is nice but not groovy enough.

Music is memorable mainly because of rhythm. You will remember a piece of music only when you are able to sing the melody of the composition in relation to the beat.
If you cannot learn something this does not mean that you cannot do it, it only indicates that you have not established a process that will allow you, in a sequence of actions, to achieve the goal.
I hope these tips on how to memorise music will help you as they helped me everyday in my music for over 50 years.
Why do we need to count bars of music?
The objective of this exercise is to create a musical experience with a satisfying result. You will work on counting bars on a blues and also creating the blues sound.

My Musical Mission

I need to play everyday to be able to feel good about life and to share with others care and love. If I did not create music in my everyday existence, life would have no form of possible enjoyment.
Guitar Mindfulness is necessary to achieve your maximum creative potential. It is more than meditation, it is about sharing your imagination.
I have written a post about how I focus on the end goal of music learning which is to achieve music mindfulness.

Concert Preparation
I want my concerts to flow and to be a constant surprise to the audience. So I improvise a lot
In this song towards the middle I improvise over two chords the A and D. This is how I prepare the solo. (Please view the full video on my youtube channel)
I start off soft and build up melodic phrases in sequence, until I reach my climax. Every time it is different and what keeps it together is the harmony and the rhythm.
