Quarrelsome desires
Rid me ‘fore scurrilous truths awaken
Make heads of my face
Smothered on the back of her dime
Bid me not to stay
For wasted hours only meet their equal
In wasted breaths beckoning affection
That lasts the length of crocheted string
Don’t think me lame
If I cry for absent futures
That never stood a chance against the cross of her arms
And the breath of expropriated shame
Tower of Pisa holds firm
While my heart sizzles in ashes
Smoldering scents of the loftiest dreams
That ever laid challenge to those terrible eyes
