Austin Poetry Slam

This is the official tumblr of the Austin Poetry Slam! APS is held every Tuesday night at Spiderhouse Ballroom at 8pm. Cover is $5. We provide a safe space for poets of all ages to share their words and heart with an audience that is always willing to listen. Every show is different and there's no telling what will happen on stage! If you're ever in town on a Tuesday night, we would love for you to hang out with us. Prepare to feel all of the things!

We're having our first special show at The Vortex! If you've never checked out The Vortex off of Manor before, you will be thrilled by the black-boxy-ness theater goodness of the venue, the specialty drinks at the Butterfly Bar, and their huge lawn where you can enjoy hula hooping and the best Italian food in Austin from Patrizzi's! Holy cow! We'll have an open sign-up to slam and open mic.  Poetry will be cheap! $5 to sit $2 to SPIT

I think of all the things I have to tell you when I will see you. Stories like:I just found out pumpkins are technically fruits andCary Grant’s first job was in a traveling circus andMost mammals are born able to walk and learn to run within minutes, so we are not crazy for moving so fast. This morning I wrote your name in the steam on my mirror, even though I knew it would fade within minutes In my best notebook I wrote “I miss you” ten thousand times. I wrote “I think I am missing one of my ribs” I wrote “I envy the way leaves know exactly when to fall from the branches and when to come back in the spring” I wrote “Everyone else isn’t you. It turns out that’s a huge problem for me.”
