Personally of the mind that roderich is not a fighter (i think he comes into like, existence and adulthood in a period of human history of interaction with nation personifications when there is a bit of a separatism, aka when the nations don't live as closely in harmony with the community and are rather used as figureheads, so at that point the humans were not involving the younger nations in their rituals like battlefields and even feasts) in the sense that he participates ON the battlefield and comes in contact with the other nations who ARE there amongst their people (prussia, england , france and russia immediately come to mind), but he is a brilliant strategist and trained in the art of swordplay and shooting which makes him a worthy opponent in close quarters, and there are so any times when others have underestimated him (especially his husbands) but have in no way been able to overpower him. aka he’s listening to the divine feminine horse saying to beat your husband

even though the austro-hungarian empire is like a century ahead of the time i’m most comfortable with when it comes to european history i have so many thoughts on roderich & empress sisi & especially how they absolutely developed a bond together of their very similar positions. beautiful figureheads with strong motivations & ideals but ultimately unable to achieve much of anything.
