The original was made on scratchboard

The original artwork lacked some contrast between really everything and was kinda busy to the eye so it made it really hard to see what was happening.

(sorry about the glare i don't know where the artwork went and this is my best picture. It looks better in person)

This version was made on scratchboard. A very interesting medium where you scratch off ink with a metal tool to reveal the white paper underneath (technically a chalky substance on top of the paper so it's easier to scratch away).

Scratchboard is similar to those rainbow scratch-off things with the toothpicks you might have seen before, but higher quality and harder to scratch.

Complex shading study

My first time trying more than basic shading. I don't know if this would be considered a study if I didn't actually study material.

# Note that this material and appearance is not at all the type for this character. It is the first iteration of a loosely traced outline.

# I hope outside of my own eye this looks decently good

Here are some separated pieces of the shading as well as a no-outline version of the drawing.

I started to attempt a redesign of this character before trying to mess with the blending settings of my shading (and simplified it to a black mask that turns into red/purple-ish multiplying shading. I then proceeded to try shading with some sort of ambient occlusion as well as hard shading.

C.M.Y. Experiment

I've always liked the cyan magenta and yellow combo since when they mix or blur together they create a rainbow.

This is what happens when you blur CMY together plus the over-contrasted version that shows the mixed red green and blue. Pretty rainbowy.

From November 2024. Done in acrylic and watercolor on a plain piece of paper.

Created in watercolor and acrylic.

The grill of the car ripped because i didn't let it dry and kept trying to paint. And if watercolor isn't exactly 293.578% dry, it re-wets and messes the paper up. (I know it's a skill issue but i'm still going to complain)

I don't know how the website/community really works, so...
