The original was made on scratchboard

The original artwork lacked some contrast between really everything and was kinda busy to the eye so it made it really hard to see what was happening.

(sorry about the glare i don't know where the artwork went and this is my best picture. It looks better in person)

This version was made on scratchboard. A very interesting medium where you scratch off ink with a metal tool to reveal the white paper underneath (technically a chalky substance on top of the paper so it's easier to scratch away).

Scratchboard is similar to those rainbow scratch-off things with the toothpicks you might have seen before, but higher quality and harder to scratch.

fun fact that isn't actually fun at all:

VAL's wings are way too big for her since they belonged to Ramiel first, meaning she can't propose fold them to dive efficiently. There's always little open spots under her wings that only serve to catch on the wind and slow her down, meaning she never would've been able to catch up and save V2.

Alternatively, if she had no wings at all, she would've either fallen to her death with V2, or been killed by V1
