I've never heard anyone accuse video games of being sexist and/or misogynistic in a way that has been hyperbolic, and every time I hear someone say that those crying foul are being "overly critical," I die a little bit inside.

That said, good game design is independent of the themes of a game. It can be tough to reconcile the fact that GTAV and Saints Row IV are probably really well designed and also have really disgusting content/themes, but it's important to call bullshit when you see bullshit. Being misogynistic on purpose or in a "satirical" way doesn't mean you aren't being misogynistic.

In the end, the themes that go into those games are damaging to the experience of those games for many people, and wholly damaging to the industry at large. Straight up.

Don't read the comments on Gamespot's GTAV review.

First day of trying to learn Dota 2
