Pure Glow

Jane Crocker is the owner of a major technological corporation with Dirk as her chief right hand man, lead scientist, and general-shit-get-done-er. Jane has fears of what will become of the company upon her impending death and this culminates into Dirk digitizing his brain into an artificial intelligence program, creating an AI reflection of himself to run Crocker Corp forever.

Only the AI (inevitably) goes awry, independent, dangerous. It names itself HaL and releases deadly neurotoxin gas on company scientists to cleanse inefficiency. He stuffs a young, green-eyed secretary, one of two humans he can’t bring himself to kill, into a little mechanical ball—a personality sphere, if you will—and promptly abandons him.

The other spared human is a female computer specialist with dark lipstick and a fiery personality he refuses to harm at all, and instead sets her into a long-term hibernation and does his best attempt to forget about her.

Until she wakes up.
