              IT   REALLY   WAS   FINE    .          the  headaches  weren’t  anything  he  couldn’t  or  hadn’t  handled  before   ,   and  frankly  they’d  become  so  present  denki  was  just  learning  to  live  with  that  constant  dull  pain  in  his  temple  that  steadily  worsened  as  quirk  use  continued   .    it  wasn’t  as  if  he  could  complain   ,   heroes  didn’t  complain  about  these  sorts  of  things   ,   things  so  minor  that  you  would  occasionally  forget  they  weren’t  normal   .

besides   ,   the  longer  he  trained  with  his  quirk   ,   the  longer  it  took  for  these  aches  to  kick  in   .    so  he  kept  it  to  himself   .

only  some  days   ,   like  these   ,   he  tended  to  overdo  it    —    charging  everyone’s  electronics  all  day  long  not  only  did  a  number  on  his  ability  to  focus   ,   but  made  the  throbbing  that  much  worse   .    he  wasn’t  even  thinking  when  he  did  it   ,   except  that  a  nice  cool  surface  to  rest  his  head  for  a  few  minutes  sounded  so  very  appealing   .    it  isn’t  until  todoroki  speaks  that  he  seems  to  come  to  his  senses   ,   eyes  bolting  open  and  head  lifting  quickly  enough  to  coax  out  a  wince   ,    ❝    ah   ,   sorry   ,   no   .    i  just   —   i  was  curious  if  your  other  half  was  really  cold  all  the  time   ,   y’know   ??    guess  it  is   .    whew   ,   would  ya  look  at  the  time   ??    day’s  really  draggin’  on   .    ❞

denki suffers side effects from using his powers other than just short circuiting his brain function, but they’re a lot more subtle, and the kind of thing he’s gotten used to just not paying much mind to. this includes chronic headaches, dizziness, unsteadiness and general physical weakness, exhaustion, and twitching or a loss of sensation in his hands that can creep up his arms. denki has no problem working around or even with these side effects, and doesn’t bother complaining about them. however, after extended use of his power he does tend to take naps, frequently during class or taking up the common room couch, and he carries pain relievers with him to stifle headaches, since he already has a difficult enough time focusing.
