CARTER
âThere were way too many people who hadnât grasped the concept of pushing a cart correctly let alone walking in a straight line. Every adult seemed to have two kids who just mainlined sugar in the parking lot and nothing was in the right spot.â He finally took a breath, looking at her with a sincere expression, âTarget or online from here out.â
âThe key is to go way later at night when hardly anyone goes. Not only do you get an empty store, it feels like purgatory! Also you wonât have to pay any dumb shipping fees. Besides gas, I guess.â
CARTER
âI donât drink anymore but that place made me want to. Itâs the bad place.â
âOkay, enlighten me. What happened?â
HAYLEY
Hayley shook her head, and knocked back one of her shots. âAutumn, I didnât even make it through the actual date. I bailed as soon as the dice came out.â
Autumn covered her hand with her mouth to hide her smile. âAh well. Try to think of it as a learning experience. From this, you learned that you need to plan the dates.â
HAYLEY
âIt is a board game. Kind of. I donât really know. All I know, is I met a banker on Tinder and we were supposed to get drinks at the bar. I just did not realize that it was a gaming bar and we were about to sit with his friends and vanquish a Wizard. So I mean, its has the whole roleplay kink I guess?â
âOh God, that sounds tragic.â Autumn cringed. âAre you planning on seeing him again or...?â
NICK
âIf you were an important key, where in this public park would I have buried you during a family emergency like two months ago?â Nic questioned out loud, as he gently lifted the dirt surrounding flower patches. He was full incognito, dressed as a gardener, since heâd gotten kicked out of the park the day before. Why would hiding treasures in public property be a crime, anyway? Laws were stupid.  @vestahqsâ
Autumn recognised the voice almost immediately and felt pure joy surge through her. Without giving it a second thoughtâand praying that it wasnât a case of mistaken identityâshe ran up behind him and wrapped her arms around him. Would Nick be startled feeling someone grabbing him from behind? Autumn didnât care, she was too happy to have him back. âWhen you find out, let me know so I can hide my own key there when I lock you away to stop you from ever leaving again.â
âHell is Wal-Mart. Iâm just going to online shop from here on out.â

âWalmart can be a fairground as long as youâre with the right person.â
HAYLEY
Hayley slapped her hand down on the bar. âShots. Keep them coming.â Resting her head against the bar, she spoke out loud, not even caring if the person around her heard. âDid you know that Dungeons and Dragons is an acceptable first date? Because I sure as fuck did not.â
âWhat the hell is Dungeons and Dragons? Sounds kinda kinky.â
LYSA
Chuckling, she filled Autumnâs glass to the very brim, before moving on to pour herself the same amount. âFlattery will get you everywhere tonight,â Lysa promised as she clinked her glass against the otherâs, her grin only growing as champagne sloshed over both of their fingers. Bringing the glass to her lips, she asked: âExcited about tomorrow? Promise to send me back at the door if I show up any less than tipsy though. I intend to spend the entire week merry and slightly drunk.âÂ
Autumn took a quick sip of her champagne after her cheers to prevent any more spillage. âOh, Iâm ecstatic,â Autumn grinned, excitement surging through her. âDonât worry, Iâll ensure everyone gets nice and tipsy. I want everyone to have a night unlike any other.â
LYSA
âGorgeous, isnât it?â Lysa mused, stopping besides one her guests with a smile that just barely bared her teeth. In an offer to top up the otherâs drink â there were waiters for that, of course, but she didnât mind â she lifted a bottle of champagne, the pale white feathers of her intricate swan gown reflecting back the light as she moved. âSo, which one is your favorite?â She asked, deliberately keeping it vague. Favorite party? Costume? Painting? How sheâd have loved to be surprised.Â
Autumn hated to admit it but Lysa had done an amazing job. It didnât dampen her spirits about her own party, howeverânot that it was a competition or anything. âMy favourite?â Autumn repeated, furrowing her brow. âWell, it has to be the champagne bottle in your hand, and you.â She grinned.Â
SOPHIA
âWell Iâm sure whatever you find, heâll agree to. Anything that means he doesnât have to decide as much.â she joked before hearing about the place. âOK either your trying to say that your pregnant or that the spare room is mine if needed?â
Autumn did a double take at Sophiaâs first suggestion. âNo, Iâm not pregnant.â Autumn decided to start wearing tighter shirts more and blouses less. âThe spare room is for you, dummy. Whenever you want it.â
LYSA
âNever,â Lysa laughed, showing her palms in an act of surrender. âHowâs the apartment hunting going though? Iâve still got the number of the realtor that got me my apartment when I moved here, if you need it?â Her eyes widened a little at the conclusion Autumn jumped to, replying with a quick shake of her head, while her eyes trailed their surroundings for any potential eavesdroppers. Not that it was a big secret; just something sheâd rather leave in the past. âNo! Nothing like that. We still had a month to go, so not exactly ideal either, but.. uh, not the worst case scenario, I guess.âÂ
âSure, Iâll take it. I think Iâve found the perfect place, but you can never be too careful, right?â Autumn pulled her phone from her pocket and handed it for Lysa to put the number in. Noticing Lysaâs change in expression, Autumn cringed at herself for shouting something like that in public. âSorry,â She mumbled, taking a mental note to lower her tone. âI mean, I guess what matters is that youâre happy now, right?â
HUNTER
âHey, I can get along with practically anyone. Just not him. If I have to be in the same room as him though, I guess I can be.â
âYou need to give him another chance. I mean, if I can learn to love him, anyone can!â
BASH
âhavenât you ever heard, money canât buy happiness. but it can buy -enter whatever you want here- and thatâs kind of the same thing?â
âYeah, thatâs totally the same thing. I feel sorry for people who think like that, Iâve bought myself tons of happiness before.â
LYSA
âOh, so not in a babysitting distance?â Lysa teased, arching a playful brow. At Autumnâs question, she found herself shifting on her feet, slightly embarrassed of bringing up her past, when the only thing sheâd meant to do was gush over her current boyfriend. âAh, you know.. Past heartbreaks and bad relationships? I mean, if youâd asked me two years ago, Iâd have been sure Iâd be married by now.â Shrugging, she flashed Autumn her best nonchalant smile. âGuess you could say I donât have the best track record when it comes to love.. But who does, right?â
âDonât be cruel, Lysa!â Autumn chuckled, though she was surprised Lysa would consider Autumn for babysitting. Then again, how hard could it be? All babies do is sleep. At Lysaâs revelation, Autumn felt her jaw drop. It was a tad dramatic, but so was Autumn. âMarried?â She echoed. âDonât tell me they left you at the alter!â
đHaunted House: Would you prefer to live in the city or the country?
âThe city! Do I look like the kind who wants to tend to the chickens wearing my dirty overalls?â
đ»Zombie: Do you think that you could survive a zombie apocalypse?
âI donât have many survival skills but I like to Iâd fight my way through a zombie apocalypse. Iâm also too stubborn to die.â
