I’ve scanned the second official anime artbook for Magia Record! While the first artbook covers season 1, this one covers season 2 and the final season (which was really the end of season 2, split into two). It’s kinda less image-heavy than the first artbook, featuring much less character artwork (presumably because most of the character artwork was already featured in volume 1). It’s also very interview-heavy, so if you can read Japanese I’m sure there’s a lot of interesting information in here.
This was a big job, so if you upload this anywhere else please credit me for scanning it. Here’s hoping Magia Archive volume 3 comes out soon so I can scan it!

Sumary:
Aiden and Antium lived two different worlds , aiden being a normal junior high schooler who was friends with Aaron , a soccer player from his school , while antium was a white blood cell , defending Aaron's body from germs all day , but after a freak accident , both beings somehow switched their minds , aiden now living Antium's life as a blood cell , and Antium living Aiden's life as a human , will they be able to revert this , and will they be able to protect Aaron , from the the inside out ?

Belos blames Wild Magic for his curse + Belos blames Wild Magic for the death of his and Hunter's family + Belos (might) blame his abuse on the curse = Belos killed the family in his cursed form?
It’s funny Anon, I was actually getting down to draft this post regarding that idea when you first sent me this! So to combine it with this ask, and REALLY deep-dive into speculation on Belos’ backstory and his psyche, his relationship with wild magic, and his probable human lineage;
Yeah, I think it makes a lot of sense! And, before we get mad at Belos for blaming the curse for his family’s death (Hunter’s abuse is a different question)… Keep in mind, Eda has no control over herself when she’s cursed! She would’ve never hurt Luz and King if she could help it, but that’s not really up to her, is it? It’s up to whatever that monstrous owl beast within her is…
That being said; I’m confident that if Belos’ cursed state DID kill his and Hunter’s family, the dude has gone too far on blaming every negative action of his on the curse. Maybe it started as a reasonable coping method… Belos couldn’t truly be blamed for killing his own family, he had no control over himself!
And as the only way to deal with the mind-crushing guilt, Belos opted to blame the curse not just for this… But now for ANY harm he dealt to his last, remaining family- Hunter! And for all we know, Belos did willingly accept the curse, or it was the result of him meddling in wild magic, an unintentional side-effect he never predicted.

It’d be similar to Lilith in a sense, which… If Belos knew she cursed Eda, I wonder if he felt some strange, twisted sympathy with her? And that played a role into Belos letting Lilith off the hook for not capturing Eda yet, until the failures became too many? Then there’s the idea that Belos DID welcome the curse, and the darkest thought of all- That he DID kill his family, intentionally!
So Belos isn’t technically lying when he said that wild magic killed his and Hunter’s family… Because it was wild magic used by Belos that did so! We don’t know when Belos ‘took in’ Hunter or even the circumstances, we don’t know how any of it happened… Belos might not even be Hunter’s actual uncle! But if he is, then that means he likely inherited Hunter’s lack of bile magic…
Which, points towards the very clear likelihood that like Hunter, Belos is descended from Philip Wittebane! That makes me wonder if Belos invited the curse, possibly knowingly or from experimenting with wild magic, in an attempt to ‘cure’ his own lack of magic. Does Belos have some level of self-loathing for it, and unlike Luz and Hunter, he truly went off the deep-end trying to compensate for this- To the point where he refused to acknowledge glyphs or anything else as a valid form of magic, unlike the bile that was standard?
Especially if he blames wild magic (which glyphs are a part of) for the curse, for killing his family… Maybe it’s a two-in-one deal. Maybe Belos hated wild magic for killing his family and thus didn’t want to rely on it for the rest of his life, only use as much as was strictly necessary to give himself a functioning bile sac that he could distance himself with- But that also backfired as a curse, because wild magic keeps ruining his life! Maybe some other combination/order of these events is what happened.
For Belos, the curse ruined his life- At least to his own perspective. Especially if he had to deal with ableist attitudes, some like Gwen’s and others from a crueler place of genuine disgust, that made Belos resent it all the more, feel desperate to hide it. And because Belos blames it all on the curse, who knows? Maybe he’s genuinely deluded himself into blaming it all on the curse, into thinking he has no control over it!
So if Hunter fails him, then that aggravates the stress that activates the curse- And Belos can’t control that, so his own outbursts, his physical abuse and lashing out? The scars? That really IS Hunter’s fault for knowingly setting him off like that… And it’s not really Belos’ fault, this isn’t who he REALLY is! He’s externalized and separated all of his flaws, both to himself and Hunter, as this separate, demonic entity that must be purged!
And maybe there IS an entity dwelling in Belos’ body, like it does for Eda… But I think unless he has a ‘full’ transformation, Belos is very much in control of his actions. I guess you could call parallels to how some abusers claim they can’t control their anger, that they’re entitled to their emotions, which can be true… But it’s their responses to that emotion that they’re expected to be responsible for, and Belos hasn’t realized that, and/or refuses to.
If Belos was a ‘gentler’ soul before the curse, who knows? Maybe he genuinely hopes and/or believes that once the curse goes away, he’ll ‘revert’ back to who he allegedly truly was, who he used to be… And maybe Hunter thinks the same, and it plays into why he deals with the abuse, amidst all of the other reasons- Because his uncle WILL get better, he really will!
But even if the curse caused Belos’ outbursts and anger… Either literally because of its direct influence, or indirectly because of the pain and discomfort that then translates into anger; Belos is still responsible for that, and unlike Eda, won’t own up to his own shortcomings. Eda at least never once thinks to blame things on the curse, the idea never comes to her…
Belos, if he’s a dark parallel to Eda- Then he’s someone who ALWAYS blames the curse for his actions, and thinks it ruined his life as something he can never live with… And his refusal to treat it with elixirs out of a sense of internalized ableism, it could’ve worsened the curse until he needed to rely on Palisman bile to survive; Or even, Palisman bile IS what caused the curse to worsen!
It’d be interesting to see- With the nuanced representation of disability, the look into the different ways parents can be good, imperfect, or straight-up terrible… What if Belos is representative of the type of abuser, who blames their toxicity on their condition? Claims they can’t really help it, treats it like an excuse and justification that their victim has to work with?
Maybe Hunter’s arc is meant as a lesson of sorts, for victims to prioritize their own health first and foremost- Their abusers might ‘need’ them, might need assistance for their physical health… But their victims also deserve to prioritize their own wellbeing as well, especially if those abusers are being outright toxic with no regard for controlling and accepting their responsibility.
For all we know, Belos could’ve externalized his own connection with the Titan, as the actual Titan itself- Treating that bond as if the Titan was legitimately speaking to him! Because if he’s only ever felt or wanted something since connecting to the Titan, then obviously it’s because that’s what the Titan wants- He’s feeling what the Titan thinks and desires, as a vessel for it! This’d explain Belos’ apparent claims and genuine self-delusion…
That’s not REALLY him, it’s not really Belos who’d want to conquer society- It must be the will of the Titan, and if so, then Belos really has no choice but to obey, right? He distinguished the curse as a different being, and now he’s done the same with whatever connection he has with the Titan; Any desires, any plans or objectives related to the isles, is all the Titan’s will!
It must be speaking through him, that must be why Belos is now compelled to do all of these drastic things- And eventually he applied this principle to even the more minute, down-to-earth decisions like pardoning Eda.
Belos could be setting himself up for quite the identity crisis, somewhat self-aware of his changes as a person since the curse, since bonding with the isles- But instead of actually owning up to it, Belos coped by treating these ‘discrepancies’ from his ‘true self’ as just the influence of someone else…
Hence, the Titan is speaking to him when Belos feels compelled to wipe out wild witches, when ordinarily that’s something he’d have been appalled by. He’s going to be incredibly confused with himself like King was in Echoes of the Past, when King realized he’d projected and his own past as a ruler was just an exaggerated childhood and fantasy… But with Belos, it’ll be even worse because he’s killed over this;
And he could easily go into denial and insistently revert back into believing himself, never accepting nor owning up to what he did, because he’s “just a humble messenger” for someone else, so you can’t really blame nor shoot him. And if it’s something he’s always wanted, to bind witches and their magic- Belos wouldn’t be able to justify this if it was his own will…
But as the will of the Titan, then it does have credibility, and thus Belos can allow himself to do this, and claim actual authority in doing so! He can grant himself the authority to judge others if it’s from the Titan, because Belos knows that he alone doesn’t have the right to do so, not for others nor even for himself- If Belos doesn’t trust himself like that.
And maybe Belos was used to distancing a real part of himself as a separate entity, as not REALLY himself, even before the curse? Maybe as a partial human, Belos felt ashamed of his human side, and tried to separate himself from that; Actively tried to forget and hide, and mask this! Rely on absorbing the bile of others to make up for a lack of bile sac…
Belos is distancing himself from his own weakness, physically and emotionally as a person, and he wants to think he’s secretly a pure witch- That he can just separate and comb out his flaws! This idea of ‘purity’ could also apply to magic as a whole…
Kikimora describes Belos’ plans as to ‘purify’ magic, and she usually is repeating his own words; So perhaps Belos really does think that the downsides of magic really can be rooted out. Belos really does think he can ‘cut it out’ the flaws of magic, its worst parts… Control it so it’s only ever good and useful to society;
And this applies to society as well! Society CAN be pure, he just has to ‘cut it out’, the bad parts… The bad people, the freaks and unusual weirdoes who plague it, like some sort of nasty tumor. That’d be ironic, considering Belos’ own fleshy mold seems very cancerous in itself, as does his addiction to Palisman bile… Which, I have to wonder if it really is Palisman bile in particular, if this has to do with the properties of Palistrom wood, which Hunter suggests can only be grown from wild magic?
Belos hating wild magic for causing his curse, and being its treatment… Oh, the irony! Reminds me of that meta about Tibbles’ family line intentionally selling curses and the treatments for them to unsuspecting customers. That would be a harsh blow to Belos’ pride and make him loathe the type of magic that ruined his life and ended his family’s…
In general, it seems Belos could be obsessed with this idea of purity, with flaws as some external, separate aspect that can just be cut out or removed, easily taken away from an idealized whole; So that Belos, or magic, or society or whatever, can be perfect once more…
Or, at least be allowed to reach that peak standard that it was held back from. It’d be a very toxic and black-and-white view of flaws and negatives… Like Belos can just ‘purge’ them, instead of living with them, and doing his best to accommodate, control, and handle these things.
Again, hearkening back to that age-old meta of mine, of Belos as a dark parallel to Luz, as a Luz who never grew up… Belos could be someone who never matured to deal with his own flaws, some more real than others. Maybe he hates whatever is weird about himself, and whatever is legitimately wrong, and has lumped them together and externalized it as some beast for him to extract and kill.
Belos could be obessed with a toxic, unattainable standard of ‘purity’, and to him, the only way is to remove what he doesn’t like… Not learn to live with it, or accept it as a darker downside to a fundamental trait, that he can nevertheless learn to control and handle and improve upon. Maybe Belos was ostracized, we see ‘Half-a-witch’ as an insult for Willow, it might’ve had its origin somewhere… Which again, Belos and Hunter then parallel Luz, who herself is Afro-Latina.
But while there is a bit of sympathy to Belos… He’s still objectively wrong, terrible, and needs to be stopped. What he went through is merely an explanation, NOT a justification… And Belos refuses to acknowledge that he DOES have control, refuses to be mature enough to step up to this responsibility to handle himself.
Belos might not even be that tragic, even if he was personally, unfairly hurt in the past. Maybe he’s a dark parallel to Camila and Gwen (hence my use of ‘cut it out’), and he’s taken himself as like a father figure to both Hunter, and on a grander scale to society itself. Belos is paranoid and fretting, he wants to hold onto what little he has left, what little he has in general.
He feels obligated to ‘look after’ his nephew and society and magic, to guide it properly, to protect it… Do what’s best for it, because in his own twisted way, he DOES care and love! Because I think that’d be an important lesson- That there are abusers who love and care… But they’re still abusers. That you can meet someone who is genuinely attached to you, and will still inflict knowing, willing cruelty upon you.
Loving someone doesn’t mean you can’t be an abuser, there’s Gwen, and there’s also people worse than that, who are fully aware of both the kindness and pain they inflict. People who think their love justifies their abuse, proves that it DOES come from a good place… I think it’d be important, to show kids and victims, and bystanders that just because it hasn’t been all-bad, just because there HAS been real love; That doesn’t negate the abuse whatsoever.
And with how the show begins with Luz’s conflict with Camila, as a parent who DOES care, but isn’t implementing the best solution, because she’s ill-equipped to handle this and isn’t sure how… It’d be interesting if it ended with Luz (and everyone else’s) conflict with Belos, who acts like an overly-concerned parent, particularly a divine, patriarchal figure. A parent who doesn’t know better, likely because he refuses to- And unlike Camila, Belos truly IS abusive as a result.
It’s basically canon that Belos is a physical abuser who scarred Hunter, we see that he DID harm a hair on his head, quite a few!
But also, who wants to bet that Belos gaslights Hunter too??? He’ll blame his physical abuse on the ‘curse’ that’s turning him into a monster against his own will... So Hunter justifies it because it’s not REALLY his uncle doing this, it’s the monster!
Who knows? Maybe Belos himself is also deluded that way. Maybe Belos is convinced it’s just the curse making him lash out, and he can’t tell where his anger ends and begins, and vice-versa with the curse? It’s like some dissociation or out-of-body experience...
Belos thinks he’s always been the same, any changes are just the monster within! He separates his real flaws as an entirely different entity, and Hunter sticks with Belos, because he wants to ‘restore’ his uncle back to his old self... And honestly, Belos may have always been like this.
Plus, if Belos’ curse is aggravated by stress... I wouldn’t put it past him to blame Hunter for any outbursts, because Hunter ‘knowingly’ aggravated Belos and thus provoked the curse, allowing it to lash out!
So it’s Hunter’s fault for making Belos upset and disappointed, it’s Hunter’s performance that decides if ‘the curse’ worsens or not! It’s Hunter who’s inciting Belos’ trauma by bringing up wild magic...
Which, amidst the nuanced exploration of disabilities, it’d be interesting to see an abuser who blames their toxic behavior on their condition, and refuses to be responsible about it because it’s their excuse, when that only works as an explanation at best.
Talk about dark parallels... Luz has Eda as her Wine Aunt, Hunter has Belos as his Evil Uncle. Both kids are clearly ND and hyperfixate on magic, they can’t do magic ‘normally’ and don’t fit in... And they have an older parental figure suffering a curse (of feathers and mud?) and earnestly want to learn more to help them...
They’re both trusted by Eda and Belos to help them handle this condition... But Eda would never use the curse as an excuse for any wrongful actions on her part, she owns who she is and embraces it as the Owl Lady! While Belos hides beneath a mask, the true monster he’s turned into... And he pretends that he and the curse are different entities.

Synopsis: in the cold emptyness of space, a dying planet bathed by three stars stands still, as it's people have fled behind walls to protect themselves from all dangers. this was the reality where 38, 39 and 40 were born, three lapadians from planet spina, one of them wanted to walk towards the stars, the other wanted to remain in the ground to protect the world, and the middle one stood between them, none of them thought that their actions would put their world, and other worlds in danger.

Ryan and Min couldn't go to Prom together because yknow, homophobia, so they wait untill everyone has left, until they're the only ones there. When they're alone, in the empty prom hall, is when they finally get their slow dance.
Ok Ryan and Min remind me a bit of Nana Komatsu and Nana Osaki from NANA 💖💖 so I couldn't resist to draw them in one of my favourite scenes of the series.
Tbh book 4 really brought my attention to what happened inside the train when amelia took over, so I wanted to draw as such. Hopefully you will like it!!
