Why do so many Japanese urban legends seem to involve a dialogue tree that you need to follow very carefully?
It's just the interactive element that seems characteristic. Like I hear a claim that, at some point, "everyone dreams of a village littered with blue corpses, and if they trip and fall then they will die in their sleep and become one of them" and ai just immediately know before I even check that, yes, this urban legend originated in Japan.

There're about 64,000 square miles of coral reefs on Earth that could still be resisting climate change by 2050, an area the size of Wiscons
New research used an AI (note that this is a good use of AI to analyze data for research, not a LLM) to analyze over 45,000 recorded observations of coral reefs with the goal of finding locations where reefs were more likely to survive higher ocean temperatures into the future. Based on over 40 criteria, the AI model predicted at least 64,000 square miles of reef would be able to survive rising ocean temperatures into 2050 and beyond. That's about the size of Wisconsin.
Corals in these "coral refuges" had some combination of a faster rate of recovery, more heat-resistant species, and better protection from heat-related damage.
The study authors hope that their research can help guide more efficient allocation of limited coral conservation resources.
Although coral reefs face immense threat from climate change, our knowledge of coral conservation has increased by leaps and bounds in the last 20 years. Only two decades ago we couldn't breed corals in human care, now we have mobile coral labs that can breed thousands of coral in just a week. We can restore reefs faster and more successfully, and there are scientists working on breeding more heat-resistant coral lineages.
While a model is not a guarantee, this is another ray of hope that some coral reefs will naturally survive climate change despite the steep odds.

He really didn't. He will very occasionally do something very minor if it helps him (like when Light's house is under surveillance and he can't eat apples inside any more, he finds all the cameras hoping for a blind spot where he can eat apples), but on the whole it's a massive victory for Light to get him to do anything at all. He really is just there to watch and heckle because he had nothing else going on.

It’s recently been found that even hive insects rest. Bees will play with colorful toys. Ants sleep for about 1 minute but they do it so frequently it amounts to a few hours per day. Even trees take breaks.
The only things that work without rest are machines; literally everything that lives requires rest.

robots require very frequent breaks! welding machines generally have it programmed in that they can’t run so long they melt themselves. ive overseen two different manufacturing robots now and each of them were fragile, finicky idiots that require constant maintenance and repair. they pause in between moves, in between jobs. you’re always keeping an eye on programming errors, on coolant levels, on heat. you’re always pulling bits of scrap out of joints, sweeping up debris, washing off nozzles and untangling hoses. and even then it snaps a chain and takes a whole morning’s vacation.
even robots need downtime.

My parents are so fucking frustrating bc if I talk to them on the basis of pure policy without mentioning Democrats or leftists or whatever they totally agree with me. But as soon as I say "well, maybe you should vote blue in November then" they act like I told them they should vote for Pol Pot. My mom's favorite retort is "I'm just not voting again" which I guess is better than voting red.
My parents are just two of the millions of people who are fed up with the Republican party, but because they've been voting red their entire lives and treating politics as team sports the thought of voting for the other side feels sacrilegious. Ofc they're being dumb, but it really says something about how hyper-partisan the American two-party system is that so many people can't bring themselves to vote blue even though they no longer agree with the Republican party.
