Hiding ღ Avary
“I’ll be there in a few,” Ava grinned widely as she read the text. She waited near the window until she saw him nearing the house on the sidewalk. Ava made sure she was presentable before rushing down the stairs and into the basement, shutting the door behind her and managing to make it down the stairs without a near death experience. As soon as she saw Avery waiting for her, she felt any worry or stress she was feeling before melt out of her. He had that effect on her, no one else did that. It was almost scary, knowing someone else meant so much to you. Ava had never been one to depend on someone like she did on Avery, and she didn’t even think he knew just how dependent on him she really was. She wasn’t the super clingy take-me-everywhere-you-go type of person, but she did need him, more than she thought she would. Ava hurried across the room and into his arms, wrapping hers around his neck and pulling him into a deep kiss. She waited a long while before pulling back, and even once she did, she continued with little pecks here and there. “Missed you,” she mumbled between kisses.
The feeling Ava got around him was addicting, to say the least. Any negativity she had been feeling beforehand would completely evaporate as soon as she laid eyes on his. Even though she knew he was going through a hard time lately, he still managed to hold that kindness in his eyes that made her feel like everything was going to be okay. If he could do that for her, then she’d sure as hell try to do it for him. Ava had been with a few guys here and there, had her fair share of trial and error, but nothing had prepared her for the feelings that came along when Avery did. The drifter quite literally wandered into her life one day, and somehow managed to make a mark. He hadn’t run off at the first sign of her insanity, or at her claims of ghosts in the house, or anything else she had thrown at him. And there had been a lot. Ava wasn’t the kind to trust easily, but with Avery, she didn’t really have to. He earned it quickly, and hadn’t let her down once. That was more than she could say for anyone else in her life.
The basement door opened and Avery heart immediately jump-started. He peaked up the stairs, hoping that it was Ava and not one of the creepy ghostys or worse, one of Ava's siblings. He wasn't ready to meet them yet. He had a good feeling they weren't going to be too fond of him. Avery wasn't all that great at first impressions and usually made most people dislike him right away. He often wondered what made Ava like him. The only thing he remembered about their first encounter was how captivated he was by her; her personality, her looks, how much she made him smile almost immediately. He probably acted like a bumbling idiot when he met her, which made him wonder why she continued to hang out with him even more. The sound of the footsteps stomping down the basement stairs sounded awfully familiar. The minute he laid his eyes on Ava, Avery's grin widened. He didn't think that smile of his could get any bigger, but apparently he was wrong. He instantly wrapped his arms around her waist. He was taken away by the sudden and intense kiss Ava greeted him with, he wasn't complaining though. He kissed her in return just as passionately, tightening his grip around her waist as he did so. A whimper almost escaped his lips when she pulled away. Luckily the tiny kisses that followed kept him silent. “Missed you,” The goofy grin was back on his face again, even while she was planting small kisses on him. "I missed you more." He managed to suppress his grin to kiss the tip of her nose.
It was crazy how happy Ava made him feel. Never in a million years did he think that anyone would have this effect on him. Throughout his whole life, the only emotions that he knew of were depressed, pissed off, or upset. It was all he knew. Sure, a few things here and there would make those emotions go away for a little bit, such as his little sister and making music. Then, his parents so kindly threw him into the mental institution and everything that gave him the slightest bit of joy was gone. Then he met Ava and everything changed. Within the first few minutes of meeting her, Avery felt calm and content. No one had that effect on him, not that quickly at least. From that moment on, he was addicted to her. Even if she hated his guts afterwards, he would still adore her and want to see her. Fortunately, she continued to talk to him or he would have turned into one of those creepy stalkers. Avery had always hated himself for a number of reasons, he couldn't see anyone enjoying his company, much less attacking him with kisses like Ava. Ava liked him for who he was, despite all of his flaws. And he liked her, a lot, more than words could explain. There wasn't a chance in hell he was going to let her go. "You didn't trip or have a heart attack at all this time. I'm proud," he teased. He softly pressed his lips against hers once again with a smile still on his face.
