If you call me out on it later I’ll totally deny it but for what it’s worth, I’m glad we have each other. For the kids. Especially for the kids. - A
I love it when you get sentimental on me, Gamble. Yeah, I don’t know what I would do if anything ever happened to you. I can’t even think about it. Our kids are lucky they got the best mom in the world!
Don’t get too cocky or I’ll change my mind about spitting out my feelings to you. And I’ll try and do my best to stay out of trouble. I appreciate the compliment Doran. *pecks his lips before whispering* I love you. *turns around and leaves without a glance back*
It was supposed to be a casual mission. A simple grab-and-go, like they did all the time. And no one except the ones who were with her should have known about it. She knew it was reckless but then again, that was often how people would describe her. But the reason behind her going into this mission was just spite. If she hadn’t had an argument with Gavin, none of that would have happened. But could she really blame him? She winced and pressed the hand already holding her side harder on her wound. How in hell was she supposed to know that someone else already had their eye on this car and that they would not hesitate and attack anyone on their paths. She whimpered as Fraiser tried to move forward as slowly as he could as he was supporting her on the other side. Tears were pricking her eyes but she couldn’t even blinked them back. She didn’t have the strength too. She knew that she would recover from her injury if they got to safety soon but the fear twisting knots in her stomach were the most painful. She felt heavier than she’d ever had and for the first time, her small bump felt out of place. Something was wrong, she could feel it in her bones and she hated herself, knowing she caused all this.
Finally they managed to reach Nikki waiting for them in the car and he swore when he saw her, immediately rushing to help them. Fraiser stayed by her side during the car ride, attempting to press her wound so she wouldn’t lose too much blood. Aviya was sobbing openly now and even though Fraiser was trying to comfort her as best he could, it was as if she couldn’t even hear him. Finally, they arrived at the Whirly’s park, as it was closer than the garage and went to get Sylvia, one of the newest members who fortunately trained as a nurse. By the time, they got her into bed, she was sweating heavily, in so much pain that she knew she would just pass out in any moment now. “Go…get…Gavin…” she managed to utter in between labored breaths. She let out another cry when she felt another painful pang in her gut, reminder that she failed at her own personal duty. The tears wouldn’t stop and she was too exhausted by the pain and fear to stop them. She was whimpering non sense now, begging her friend to tell her what came out of it. Sylvia was focusing on stopping the blood loss from the stabbing but Aviya could still feel warm blood flowing out. She could feel herself slip away but she was struggling. She needed to know. Right before her eyes closed, she noticed the panic in Sylvia’s eyes as she ordered the others around to get some towels.
A throbbing pain in her stomach woke her up. She winced and groaned as she tried to move. She was in one of the beds of the makeshift med bay. It was daylight outside as she struggled to keep her eyes open once she did. She blinked a few times, taking in her surroundings and then her gaze fell on him. She prayed for him to be asleep but it seemed like her luck had definitely run out since last night. He heard her shift on her bed but didn’t look up from his hands resting on his lap. He wouldn’t. She would have to speak before he even try to look at her. She let out a stuttered sigh and took a few deep breaths, trying her best to quell the anxiety in the pit of her stomach. As she did so, her hand went to rest unintentionally on her stomach, right above the spot where she got stabbed, in a gesture of habit. Gavin’s eyes followed her hand and he finally met her eyes. He had never looked at her that way before, his eyes full of an emotion she’d never thought would be directed at her. Hatred. She inhaled sharply but didn’t break his gaze. She knew he was waiting for her to speak but she couldn’t. She didn’t even know what to say. So she reached out for him with her free hand, her eyes begging him to take it. He shook his head at her gesture, tight lipped and eyes glazing with tears. Only then did she manage to find her voice and murmured a weak apology.
“You’re sorry… You’re sorry?” His eyes were so reproachful that she couldn’t bear it any longer and she lowered her gaze to her stomach, tears dripping down her face as the sobs took over her body. She didn’t know what else to say so she kept on her litany of “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”, in between choked sobs, directed both at him and at her baby who would never live to see the light of day because she’d been too selfish to listen to him. Sure, he had been harsh on her during their argument, bringing back her deepest insecurities and she knew she only wanted to prove him wrong but the cost she, they had to pay was too much. Her body was shaking with sobs now and she could feel the pain of her fresh wound acutely as the pain meds’ effects were fading out. But she deserved the pain after what she’d done.
He started to speak then and she raised her head to look at him again.
“You know…” His voice was rough with pain and he choked while uttering the next words “I saw her.” Tears were streaming down his face and she ached to wipe them away but she had no right to do that. Not anymore.
“She was ours, Aviya. And you killed her.” His last words made her choke on her own tears and she shook her head vigorously, denying the truth. “No… I didn’t- I didn’t know… I thought- I thought it’d be safe- please Gavin, I swear-“
“But I guess that just makes sense… I always felt like you didn’t want her in the first place anyway.”
Her sobs increased and she buried her face in her hands, still shaking her head no fiercely as if that would convince him that was the contrary of what she’d wanted. They would have made a great family. Rough around the edges, surviving and still learning but still, they could have been happy. But she had ruined everything.
..Yes! Well, now that that’s cleared up. I couldn’t even find you okay, I even went to our secret spot and you weren’t there either. So, what was I supposed to do? Maybe you were off with them, those killjoys. Hmm..Nikki, which retirement home did they leave to join?
You got you’re side gang, I got mine. I would also know if you’d tell me.
In your mind maybe but actually it's not. Are you blaming me for this? I don't know about Nikki but he's damn good at what he does at least. Are you jealous? *surprisingly she doesn't look surprised, more suspicious* That's alright. Last time we checked we can do whatever the hell we please. You don't owe me anything. Is that it then?
That sounds… Awfully domestic. But I can’t resist a fine car almost as much as a bike. What’s that tone supposed to mean? If you’d rather go and snatch some slutty rag doll, please be my guest. You’re the one who came to me.
It’s supposed to, Gamble. Oh. Do you have one in mind? Kidding, kidding. You know there’s only one girl for me….. Elfy. Do you know where she’s at these days?
And why’s that? I might actually… Some Killjoys and I are planning something big… Just stay tuned. I think Elfy is on a spiritual trip of some kind… Trying to find herself. At least that’s what she told me before she left.
*by that time she's quite close to him and she's looking up at him intently, one eyebrow raised* Do /you/ even know? And since you're off stealing cars without telling me about it... If you're doing your own thing, I might as well start doing the same. Fraiser and Nikki, the new guy are helping out. They're good with electric and mechanic stuff. And nowadays you're more with the dolls than I am so you should know.

I would almost say that I’m impressed but you flatter yourself too much already… Except if this is a gift to me. In that case, Doran, you’re allowed to take me out. It’s not a date.

G?! Am I supposed to know who that is?? As if I only knew one person whose name started with that letter...Oooh right, the wink. Are you asking me on a date Doran?
Sometimes she wondered when she became so dependant. Most of those times she hated herself for it. But that didn’t prevent her from going back at it every now and then. It was like pills. Or weed, or alcohol. He’s become like a drug to her. A delusional means to make her forget about reality. But he was the only one who could give her that kind of release and she wasn’t sure why.

His lips are warm on hers and his tongue daring, by now he knows what she allows him to do. There are still some rules from what he recalls: no cheesy talk, no cuddling sessions afterwards and never, ever ask for permission out loud. She will say no, obviously. And they both don’t want that. His hand moves up under her top, tugging it upward and stroking her smooth skin. She presses her lips harder against his and pulls him closer to her by grabbing the collar of his shirt. Shirt that will soon end up on the floor, along with hers and the rest of their clothing. He’s hovering over her on the bed, focused on his other hand trailing up her thigh, under her skirt. She squirms below him and reaches out to unbuckle his belt quickly, and get to work on getting rid of his pants. She’s efficient and not very patient and he groans when she touches him, his mouth gently sucking her earlobe.

“Want a spliff?”, the rather inoffensive offer was usually a trap, even though it didn’t always end up this way. Sometimes they could simply enjoy a friendly time between the two of them, talking about irrelevant stuff and preparing pranks to set on people. But when sharing bongs turned into sharing open-mouthed kisses and light touches, the pair was in for the long shot.

His hot breathing is all that she hears, along with her own short ones which soon turn into moans. His hand is gripping her waist and will probably leave marks but for now she’s somewhere else. His other goes up to her face and brings it down for a kiss and she closes her eyes again. His hips are rocking upwards, in symbiosis with her own movements. He takes advantage of her new position to attack her neck and she bites her bottom lip, suppressing a whimper. It’s like everything they do, a competition. A bet to see who will cave in first. And as much as she dislikes to admit it (but enjoy it very much nonetheless), he’s getting the upper hand lately, even though she’s the one riding him at the moment. But still, he’s purposefully teasing her, sitting up so his mouth can work its magic on her breasts. He knows she doesn’t allow him to leave marks where it’s visible, so he takes advantage of other places. However, she gladly nicks at the tender skin of his neck, sometimes not so lightly, forming love bites for everyone to see. No, not love bites, hickeys. There is no love in what they’re doing.

She still didn’t want to talk about it, although it wasn’t a secret for anyone. For people, they were fuck buddies. To her, he was her escape. He made her feel alive without the actual pain of being alive in their fucked up city. When they were together, she didn’t think about dying or constantly fighting for her life. It all came back quickly in the aftermath but she was only seeking for a short time to recover from the real life.

She is on top of him, still, her hands pressed hard on his torso, contrasting to the slow motions of her hips above him. Intoxicated by the drugs she took earlier, every thrust is emphasized and it delights her. “Fuck, Gamble.” She opens her eyes and looks down at him with a frown. She doesn’t have time to protest, she just has the time to catch his smirk before he grabs her by the waist. He turns her over and her back hit the mattress softly. He kisses her deeply and pushes into her again with a deep thrust. This time, she can’t hold back her moan and she’s grateful that his mouth is covering hers to muffle it. She feels him smirking wider and bites his lip. He groans and punishes her with another powerful thrust, which makes her grip his shoulder. Her other hand moves to the small of his back and her hips buckles upward to meet his. She catches his lips with her own for a slow kiss as he sets up a faster rhythm than hers.

A few years ago, if someone told her that Gavin and she would have a thing, she would have laughed out loud. Even the thought of being intimate with him would have make her roll her eyes and chuckle at that nonsense. He was a joker, she was a fighter. They had almost nothing in common. She had been forced to leave her family when he fled from his willingly. But somehow, even with all their differences, they got each other. Aviya couldn’t explain how or why but they just did. And they could find tons of ways to entertain themselves not to think about their everyday life. Or make it better. And although they barely talked about it, they both knew they were glad to have one another in their life.

“C’mon Gamble, you know you want to,” he groans as he keeps thrusting into her relentlessly. She can hear he’s getting out of breath and it’s her turn to smirk at him. She shakes her head but she still lets out a loud whimper when he manages to hit a sensitive spot inside her. “I’m not coming before you do,” she whispers stubbornly and presses her heels in the back of his thighs to push him even further. He makes a growling sound then and for a moment, she thinks she is winning. However, her victory falls short when she realizes her action will make both of them come faster with this new angle. She figures he saw the realization dawn on her because he laughs briefly then and shakes his head while his eyes pierce hers with an arousing intensity. He slow down his movements and one of his hands comes down between them to stimulate her even more as she swears. “That’s cheating!”
“Is it?” He asks with a raised eyebrow but he doesn’t want to upset her too much apparently, because then he uses his other hand to pull her back against him in a sitting position, placing her above him again. She does her best not to smile at him at the compromise and starts moving in small circles, aware that he loves it. Indeed, his body responds eagerly, his hips pushing upwards with a renewed energy while his breathing becomes shorter and shorter. She digs her nails into his back then and her teeth bite smoothly into his collarbone, hoping that this, along with her grinding moves will send him over the edge but he hasn’t given up yet and his thumb grazes her clit more rapidly while his other hand presses hard against her lower back, preventing her from going too far away from him. She feels the knot of tension and pleasure snaps inside of her as she reaches her orgasm. She clenches around him, sending him over the edge too after a few short thrusts and his gasps match hers. His arms are still encircling her while they’re both easing out of their climax and once they had caught their breath he lets her go and rolls to lay on his back. She mirrors him and lets out a sigh of contentment, her hand resting on her chest where she can feel her heart beating wild after the effort.
Silence falls upon them as they calm down, until she hears him chuckle. She turns her head towards him, eyebrow raised questioningly. “That was great.” But before she can retort with a snarky comeback, he raises one hand above his head in her direction: “Well done, partner!”
She can’t help the grin breaking her stern face as her hand meets his in a victory high five. “It wasn’t too bad.” The smile he gives her in return is so genuine it makes her hearts flutter and she turns her head back, not wanting him to see her blush. She doesn’t even know if she’s blushing but the betrayal of her heart is bad enough and she doesn’t want to catch him staring at her. She has to get out. She pretends to glance at the clock on his bedside table before she gets up and starts collecting her clothes all around his room. He sits up on his bed, confused by her sudden hurry. “What are you doing?”
She doesn’t even look back at him before her curt reply: “I gotta go. Marley needs me for- something.” She is aware her voice has gotten lower at the end of her sentence but she couldn’t come up with anything better. Besides, they both know they could see Marley together anytime if they wanted to. He knows she’s looking for an escape and as usual, he is going to watch her go. She gets dressed in a matter of seconds and she’s out of the door before he can utter anything else, but what does it matter anyway? They both got what they want at the end of the day, right?
Sure. I don’t care either way to be honest… No offense.
What Rag Doll has a house handy to give out and I’m pretty sure if they did they wouldn’t help me anyways. But please don’t let anyone know I said that of course. I’m not entirely sure, all I know is that he can get in touch with them and that’s all I need. As long as a situation is this important he’ll do it. If he doesn’t agree tell him I’ll invite our entire family to my wedding, but if he agrees I’ll explain it to them after that it was a private ceremony without family.
I meant they could help you find furniture but especially what you need for the wedding, I don't know. Also when do you guys plan to do it? I'm not a snitch. Okay, I'll do that then.
Are you implying what I think you’re implying? I think you are.
You got a point there, wherever will we find a guitarist at last minute. Should we call Tanner or do you know any killjoys that can play? Preferably the ones who don’t know what you look like naked.
Oh you’re coming to the wedding? Did Luka already invite you? Gosh, I still have so much planning to do, so I’m not really sure. But you could help me with something.. I need a house, well we need a house. Any kind, like one with wheels you know like an RV or just a regular house is fine. My Aunt and her family might be able to help which is why I need you to have Gavin ask. Do you think you can do that? Thanks a lot.
For nothing. Not exactly. Gavin told me and I figured... don't you want me to be there?
I bet the RagDolls are going to be eager to help you too. I don't mind it either. Well a house can be found...some place safe and quite far away from the city... Yeah, I'll do that, but... are you sure he's still in touch with his family?
That's...actually a bright idea. Wahou Doran, I'm impressed. Except we'll have to find another guitarist since Luka would be busy... getting married and all...
