Happy International Women's Day! 💙 I don't like to get too political on the internet, but looking at the world lately I've been wondering how so many things could go so wrong. Hate, violence, intolerance and injustice are taking over, it feels like less and less people are willing to put themselves in someone else's place. This is my little reminder that we are all just human in the end. We have more in common with each other than things to divide us 🌻 One of my best friends told me this woman could be the goddess Venus, and I loved that idea. This is how I picture the goddess of beauty and love: a combination of all kinds of wonderful features!

🌊 In the Waves - Bess Rogers

This was another illustration I started a year or so ago and finally finished just in time for 2016 to end.  I was heavily inspired by the song linked above at the time I sketched this picture, and this was the first image that I started based on a song in years.  Needless to say this is a pretty personal piece for me.  When I was younger I used to do a lot of sketches based on songs and it was a great way for me to ‘vent’, so it felt really good to do that again.  

2016 was both rough and amazing, but I’m proud of myself for finally going back to these images that meant a lot to me and finishing them the way that I wanted but was unable to back then.

Ofc we bloody know this, ofc we know.

We say fuck 2016 because fuck Brexit, Fuck Trump, Fuck all the brand new hatred and bigotry which has come out from those. 

Fuck that so many of our heroes, whether it be in literature, music, art, acting and more have gone.

Fuck the cancer that took them, fuck the freak accidents that took ones who were too young and had a whole life ahead of them. Fuck the heart attacks, and the drugs. Fuck all of those taking those people.

This year's first 3 inktober drawings ✨

Improvement memes are what keep me going when I’m feeling really unhappy with my art.

I decided to redraw my old Korra fanart from 2013. I was expecting some change in style (haven’t drawn chibis since forever and I don’t even know what a consistent style is), but I didn’t think so much could change even when keeping the pose and expression basically the same.

The old version was cute and very polished, but so damn stiff. I think the remake looks much more dynamic, and definitely more like Korra. Even though it’s just a sketch with some colors slapped on it, it’s more balanced and alive than the old one.

Honestly, if you ever feel unmotivated or like you’re not making any progress, redrawing old stuff is the best you can do to make yourself feel better. You are improving, and practice does make perfect.
