3.16 “Dawn’s Early Light” Crane and Joe. Certified BrOTP.
We’ve seen Jenny BLOSSOM over the course of this season as she’s opened herself up to trusting and loving Joe. It’s been fantastic watching her find solidarity in their relationship and seeing her loosen up on the tightly held grip of her personal life. I’ve seen comments from showrunner Clifton Collins that Joe’s death opens up an “interesting” storyline for Jenny. HA. JENNIFER MILLS IS PLENTY INTERESTING ON HER OWN WITHOUT KILLING OFF HER BOYFRIEND.
Also, I can tell you EXACTLY how this story is going to go. Jenny Mills is not going to be a person who looks at Joe’s death with a perspective of someone who is all “Well I found great love but he died but I FOUND it and I’m totally open to finding it again.” Jenny is going to be “I opened up to this man who promised he was never going to leave me and I allowed myself to love him and guess what? He fucking DIED. So thanks but no thanks but I don’t care for that yucky love stuff and I’m going to be even more closed off than I was before.” If I can predict EXACTLY how a character is going to react, that’s not interesting. It’s cheap. Killing Joe off was CHEAP, even if the WAY it happened was not. The very act of it was cheap. So I weep for the wasted potential of Joe Corbin. There was so much more to explore with him, both as an individual and in his relationship with Jenny and Team Witness. I weep for the interesting stories he still had to tell.

Feels…..oh the feels..
Hum….
Actor Zach Appelman has confirmed his exit from Fox’s supernatural series “Sleepy Hollow.”
Appelman who portrayed the character Joe Corbin took it to Twitter to announce the news. He posted a behind-the-scene photo of the production saying, “Last day on set with the best co-star a guy could ask for. Gonna miss this one.#bts #SleepyHollow @LyndieGreenwood.”
According to TV Line, even though he appeared to have died in last week’s episode 17, it will not be the last time viewers will see him. A representative from the network reached out to the news outlet and implied that he will appear in some form during season 3’s finale.
The young Corbin was introduced back in the second season when he suffered from a curse that transformed him into a wendigo. He was cured when Pandora harnessed his dark side to break the barrier put up by the Thura. His guest appearance was reportedly received well by fans, and he was promoted to series regular.
His departure from the show came after The Hidden One converted him back into a wendigo. His girlfriend Jenny Mills (Lyndie Greenwood) was forced to shoot him in the chest to save her father’s life.
Meanwhile, in his appearance during the recent Wondercon, writer and executive producer Clifton Campbell teased what is to come in the concluding installment, “Yes, you will see some awesome creatures. [Episode] 18 has got a really, really awesome monster that I’m very, very excited about,” he said.
Fox has yet to confirm if the serialized series will return for season 4, but Campbell shared that they will not play it safe. “The only way to do a finale that has actual closure is if your studio and network tell you that your show is over. Then you’ve got four or five episodes in which you can do that. We’re all very hopeful that that’s not going to happen so we don’t really plan for closure. We plan for moving forward. That’s our hope,” he added.
“Sleepy Hollow” season 3 finale airs on Friday, April 8 at 8 P.M.
Zach Appelman confirmed that Joe is dead, not that he wouldn't come back. And I'd be really surprised if Zach was leaving the show of his own volition, he frequently posted about how much he loved working on it. I think he was a great addition to the team and for Jenny. They can't kill off a charater that is a really valuable..... So I want them to bring him back if the show is renewed.
I keep watching sleepy hollow several days later because I just know I’m gonna be pissed.
They killed Joe dammit. I liked him. He added a little something for team witness. Crane finally had a bro. He even understood the right moment for a high (low) five between bros. More importantly Jenny was finally bringing her walls down, was finally happy. And y'all had her kill him? That was just downright horrible.
Ezra knew all along??? And his bullshit excuse is gonna be what? ‘I did it to protect you girls’? They already in danger every damn day! Mama Mills died alone, in a mental hospital. He couldn’t help her?! He’s gonna justify it somehow but I doubt I’ll be listening.
Who the hell put Detective Dan in charge? Boy you just walked into this shit green as the grass outside, you gon’ give my people orders? Sit yo ass down! I can acknowledge that he is a natural leader and even Pandora said he was right but it’s the WAY he does things that piss me off. He’s such an asshole. On top of the fact that he’s been spying on Abbie all this time and had the nerve to call her a liar..I’m just ready for him to die. Give Joe back.
Last but not least on the things that piss me off..BESSY. Why??? Why is she still alive?? Why the hell is she giving Abbie the side eye?? And Abbie over there with her head down??? Nope. I’m not here for Katrina 2.0, HELL NO. She is not and will never be relevant. They dare not fade Abbie into the background in favor of her.
Andy, Irving and Joe. At least 2 out of 3. Not here for Bessy Unnecessary and Detective Douche Daniel.
The one thing I really loved of course was Crane making coffee for Abbie and her bringing him donuts. They’re so married it kills me. Playfully wiping crumbs/cream from his mouth and stealing each others guilty pleasure? Come on! Stop teasing me! I’m loyal to this pairing but I don’t know how the writers can rectify the shit storm they made with one ep to go.
Holy shit hormones, I didn’t not need not expect to be full on sobbing over Joey Corbin’s death and Jenny Mills’ pain today, like GTFO.
Like they annoyed me a bit this season but when it comes right down to it, they FIT. They were in love and they didn’t deserve that.
Joe died for nothing. His death didn’t serve any greater purpose than to give Jenny pain and angst and I’m really beginning to think the writers just like to see black women in pain. It’s not fucking cute.
There were so many ways they could have resolved this, but no, you choose to have Jenny deliver the deathblow to someone she was in love with. Jenny has been through so much already…she didn’t deserve this???
I don’t know, I just keep thinking of her going back to that shitty trailer and seeing Joe everywhere in it and breaking into sobs, and for what??

Andy Brooks, Irving, now Joey Corbin? I cannot understand why the writers of this show keep getting rid of the supporting characters we actually like and digging up corpse after corpse from Ichabod’s past to drag into the present.
Instead of world building or actually solidifying the mythology of the show, they’ve spent the season doing retcon gymnastics to make Betsy Ross a thing, cramming her into the past timeline despite it not making any sense with the previously-established storyline and now here she is again, a badly-fumbled character virtually no one wants to see anymore.
Sometimes, I can give a show the benefit of the doubt because even if I’m not happy with the writers’ decisions, the narrative makes sense. Sometimes beloved characters die in service of the plot (it’s happened on shows I love all the time). Sleepy Hollow has used up all it grace. If I can’t trust the writers to tell a good story and make choices that make sense, why should I still watch?
I'm heart broken.
