Closing Statements

Sorry for the last minute post, the last few days have been busy with my step dad getting out of the hospital and my internship starting life’s been a little busy. But time for my closing statements.

Before I begin, Al Jazeera was probably the best tour we had during the trip. Because we got a chance to see what everyday life is like at a news organization. It reminded me of casual corporate settings with some people having decorated desks and wearing jeans. Their news room looked really state of the art as well. The Q and A was really great, I thought the person we interviewed was very professional and polite.

Now for my closing statements, this was a great experience. I’m glad I got a chance to attend this class. I met some really cool friends, learned about London media and saw some cool sites. London School of Communication made me start thinking of graduate school. Midsummer’s night dream made me want to read the original. Overall this class was really fun and I learned alot.

The Market and a Midsummer’s Night Dream

Today was great. We got a chance to explore a flea market type place where artists sell their work and vendors sell various items such as posters, t-shirts and special food. I spent lot of money today on old records and cool shirts. I’m proud of mu purchases because I can’t find any of these in the stores back home. I dig the shirts I bought, they’re kind of cool. I’ll post pictures of them later.

Midsummer’s Night Dream was surprisingly great, I’m not the biggest fan of Shakespeare but this play made me want to read the original. One thing I noticed they took alot of influence from Bollywood movies, with the random dancing and even some small anime influences(I associated cupid having a gun with the anime FLCL). It was a little hard for me to follow because of the language as well as the fact that we stood for almost three hours. But nonetheless I really enjoyed the play.

A Grand Don’t Come Free

Today was looong and tiring. We took a tour of the Roman Baths as well as Stone Henge. The Roman Baths were really interesting and attribute that to our tour guide. He know all about everything and was really laid back about talking about it. It felt like a tour but also like a conversation with the history. One thing that was cool was how there was a mall around the area and I started comparing malls of the UK to the US. There are small differences likes names are different (TJ Maxx is TK Maxx here and FYE is called HMV) and stores are a little bigger. I got a chance to get one of my favorite albums, A Grand Don’t Come Free by Mike Skinner <\p>
