As July is the Disability Pride Month, I would like to bring up a name who is very synonymous to the meaning of the month, and means a lot to Tennis as a black queer disabled woman, simultaneously multiple slams champion, Kgothatso Montjane.

KGOTHATSO MONTJANE is a wheelchair tennis player from South Africa and 4-times Slams Champion in Doubles. She won Roland-Garros twice, Wimbledon and US Open once with her favourite doubles partner from Japan, Yui Kamiji. She is the first black woman to win the wheelchair doubles title at Wimbledon in 2024. Montjane identified herself as a queer person as reported from Nike's LGBTQIA+ campaign, be true: in motion.

The Wimbledon title awarded her the Sports Personality award at the Feather Awards, Africa's biggest queer awards ceremony.

Montjane is very active in building a strong tennis community in South Africa while also giving lights to the disabled community. All of her activities can be found on her Instagram, @/kgmontjane1 .

also, i saw tokito's IG Story today. He screenshotted a post where the op said loosely something about how wheelchair tennis players had it 'easy' by competing with less players in grand slams with only 4 rounds played to win a prestigious tournaments, while the able-bodied players needed to play 7 matches to win. And the post basically saying that the two bounces that they got is what makes it boring to watch and nothing thrilling happens unlike normal tennis. This person said it must be nice to play like 4 rounds and earn millions of yen while normal tennis players (probably comparing them to japanese players( work so hard to earn less than them. (I'm honesly already angry at this). Note: tokito's name spelling can also be read as Kaito. So kaito in the translation means tokito.

so tokito responded to the post with his thoughts. I translated them with the help of google. More or less the translation is okay. And tokito's response in japanese is very polite yet you can hear his anger in his words.

imho the last line is lowk necessary lol he is young and successful because of his own efforts while that op only knows to complain, tokito is breaking records and making history.
