I mean, no offense, it's not like they can do much, since the olympics are so early. They already put it to second week (while in 2024 it started on the first day), the only other thing is to move Wimbledon.

The thing is that Wimbledon can’t even be moved earlier because currently there is only a 3 week break between Roland Garros and Wimbledon. My issue is that this schedule make tennis seem unserious because so many players are probably going to skip the Olympics (like in 2024) due to the dumb schedule.

If I had a magic wand I would have Roland Garros and Wimbledon start earlier so that players can play the Olympics. Players have been discussing how the schedule is already too crazy and long so it would be perfect if the schedule could be changed for the 2028 season so that players can represent their countries at the Olympics.

as if the new wta policy itself wasn’t already horrible enough, it is now governed by florida law, and any challenge to it has to be filed in a st. petersburg court. the previous version was governed by new york law. the wta says it’s because it’s headquartered in st. petersburg, so on paper it looks like a routine housekeeping change.

but it’s hard for me to believe the wta didn’t know exactly what it was doing when it made that change. if a player ever wanted to challenge whether this policy is even legal, she couldn’t simply appeal her own case through the sport’s arbitration system. she’d have to challenge the policy itself in a florida courtroom, in a state whose laws and judges are far less favorable to exactly the kind of woman this policy is to affect. this is beyond disgusting and just shows how little they seem to care about the wellbeing of their players.

I am very concerned for the women who won't end up passing these tests (not even only trans women, if there are any, but also intersex women) because it's going to be made public and they are going to be harassed. It's such a horrible move by the wta. They, as always, don't care about their players' safety.

literally this is exactly what has happened when this kind of testing has been implemented before by the olympics. (i say "this kind" of testing as if that article wasn't an anti-scientific, non-specific load of bs) - because genetics are complicated and messy, chromosomal testing has only ever turned up cis women with undiagnosed intersex variations, up-ending their lives, identities and careers, and causing completely unnecessary harm all the way round.

im genuinely so heartbroken for all the intersex women+girls on tour. like the very nature of this tour is already hostile for women with intersex conditions (such as pmos) who are still 'woman-enough' to pass this genetic testing but for the women who happen not to have two (and only two) x chromosomes this is gonna be even more hard. it makes me so sad. the very concept of binary sexes male and female is of course bioessentialist to its core but to enforce that is going to be upend the lies of so many people. the athletes themselves, their teams, families, people who care about them. and oh if a famous athlete doesn't pass this test it's gonna subject them to so so much public harassment, it's absolutely disgusting

also there are multiple elements to why that decision and mandate is absolutely fucking horrific and traumatizing for a player but i think it is incredibly important to remind ourselves that the reason the wta decided to do it is blatantly because of transmisogyny and not wanting trans women in sports. that is not a byproduct of why this mandate was instilled, it’s the entire fucking reason for it.

Oh this is not the first time I've seen a fanbase make up relationship rumors and stuff to pretend injury isn't cooking their fav but it's nastyyyyy

that’s true but to go straight to pregnancy is a wild jump. Maybe it’s because karo is being vague but why should any of us demand more information from athletes when they already share so much. I also don’t get why it’s so bad to say she’s injured because injuries are apart of life and with karo I appreciate her matches MORE because I know how much she has overcome to even still be playing.

I just have no clue. Those fan accounts are really active and look genuine.

Whenever I see news that is shocking/nonsensical I always fact check it by searching on other apps and using search browsers. Every report I’ve seen so far calls the injury “unverified” so until karo or her team talk about it we won’t know. It’s just a part of sports that injuries happen but I would try avoiding spaces where conspiracies run rampant. I left twitter 3ish years ago (i can’t even remember anymore) and I’ve never felt like I missed it. Tennis twitter is just so toxic and half the time I don’t even think the so called fan even like the people they support because of the crazy things they same about them.
