do you have any favorite scents?
ugh i wish i could be a fragrantica hoe i really do but perfume is expensive, HOWEVER:
- Connemara by Fragrances of Ireland is my grandma’s signature scent. it’s very rosy with lily of the valley.
- Angel by Thierry Mugler was my mom’s signature scent. apparently it was the first modern gourmand fragrance, and to me it smells soooo ethereal and luscious, i could just list the notes but i can’t properly describe it at all. it smells like a woman wearing pearls passing you on park avenue but her feet aren’t quite touching the ground.
- Alien by Thierry Mugler is MY signature fragrance when i can afford it. i think it’s very funny that my mom wore Angel and i wear Alien because it describes our dynamic very well. Alien has notes of jasmine sambac, cashmere wood, and white amber, but it smells like one of those dreams where you can fly, and you’re hovering above dark woods at night, and you know intellectually that it’s very cold but you’re so warm.
- Orange Sanguine by Atelier Cologne. i wore it every day in Provence to pavlov myself into remembering the trip when i got back to the states, and boy did it work. every time i wear it i feel like im having a breakfast of croissants and hard boiled eggs and emmental cheese at Hôtel le Magnan and going out to the courtyard to drink coffee under the longan tree.
- Poltergeist by Heretic Parfum. smells like what’s on the tin. frenetic and thrumming with dark energy. kind of like mezcal if you drank it in an unfinished basement where the lights are flickering.
- honorable mention: Nymph by @awolfinlace because she made it YEARS ago and i still keep it in my overnight bag when i want to smell like reeds and dark water and languid, nacreous malice. i love it.
someone please let me be a fragrance influencer. thank u for asking!!
