Stars of Kordra
When the gods moved to the Island of Sarcina (this is the name of the original island before the division of the islands), they took a small group of animals with them. To let these animals remember that the gods saved them, Lastrilmar, the goddess of the stars, altered the pattern of the stars. This group of animals is called the Kewan. Every animal got a corresponding constellation. Lastrilmar, who was always a wanderer, spread her mind with the birth of the Nasatra. The Nasatra are Kewan who could walk Kordra. After the division, Lastrilmar settled in the Island of Myrist, which lies above the other islands. Her temple was build in the elven city of Altrarad, currently known as Thilathlune. Although Lastrilmar's body isn't present in Thilathlune anymore, her influence is still seen. The elves became star elves and her temple is still the source of Nasatra.
The Nasatra: The animals who originate from the temple of Lastrilmar are fey creatures who roam the continent of Myrist. These animals are known as the Nasatra are seen in many forms: foxes, cats, weasels bears, deers, hawks, goats, ravens, squirrels, whales, insects, and wolves. Although insects aren't represented in a constellation, the stars that don't belong to a constellation are a symbol for the insects.
In later posts, I will deepen these creatures, the star elves and the city of Thilathlune.
This is the map of the world I'm creating. The name of this world is Kordra, I'm not entirely sold yet, but I might settle on this one (we will see soon). Like I told in my previous post, the world consists of four different floating islands and a (flat) underlying plane, called the Domain of Monstrosities (or Domein der Gedrochten in Dutch). I recycled the paper that I used by myself. The Islands/continents are drawn on foldable flaps.
(also, I tried taking the pictures with a digital camera instead of the one on my phone. I hope this has improved the quality of the pictures)
Introduction
Before we delve into this world, let's start with the basics. The fact that the world exists out of four main floating islands (or continents) has a big influence on the rules of physics that exist. The four continents are Asylia, Faralia, Myrist, and Moural. Like our world's tectonic plates, these continents shift. This makes that in the past some continents were closer to each other and others further apart.
Under the continents lays another plane known as the Domain of Monstrosities. The creation story was set on this plain, and most races were created here. But because of disastrous choices taken by the gods, everyone had to flee to the floating islands. The creatures that are left there are mainly creatures like Giants, Gnolls, Goblins, and Ettins.
The continents float above and under each other, because of this the continents cast shadows on each other. These shadowed regions are called the Dark Lands. In the Dark Lands portals from (not to) the Domain of Monstrosities. Where these portals are found is very irregular. Sometimes creatures from the Domain travel through it.
These are the very basics of the world, in which I hope to create interesting locations and people for adventures. (And of course I have to find a fitting name yet).
