burncliffdown:
cliff stares blankly ahead. it’s easier for him to ignore everyone else than try and get himself to concentrate through his thoughts. he hears the other, but makes no point to acknowledge him until he’s finished. “honestly? probably more than you have.” he says bluntly, still not turning his head. “this class isn’t that hard. if it’s making you want to drop out and move to canada, maybe you should find another class to take. it’s early in the year, i’m sure they’ve got plenty of spaces for you in urban dictionary 101.” finally, he tilts his head until his eyes meet isak’s, mouth a straight line. “probably have enough money for that, honestly.”
“how much is ‘more than i have’? an estimate, please.” remembering the conversation his counselor and he had had about college requirements and how he had to take an english class of some kind, better if it were higher level, isak sunk back into his chair, mildly defeated. he didn’t need to be well versed in this crap. he could analyze it, just not from the standpoint that the professor wanted. “i can’t do that, unfortunately.” the insult went right over his head, he didn’t think to ask what urban dictionary was. “could i live off of ten thousand a year realistically?”
