Came up with an entire lore for a fan fic that I'll never write.
A doctor who fic that's like "flowers for Anthony" (the good omens fic, go read it on ao3 it's fantastic and it heavily inspired this. Really this is just that fic but with the doctor instead).
A race of aliens that lives entirely on a fleet of ships, and their power cells are failing. They're running out of power.
They try to use the doctor as a power source. They want to do it as "humanly" as possible, so their plan is to genetically engineer something so everytime he dies (of natural causes) they can siphon the regeneration energy from him and then they restart his life themselves.
The doctor uses the chameleon arc (like in human nature) to turn human. But they've already set up the "farm". So starting in the late 1600's he lives a human life.
He lives entirely normal human life. Then he dies. And he comes back, as a child again. An orphan of a couple months every time. In different places, mostly around Europe.
It's even worse if he has a companion. He drops them off somewhere and says that he has something he has to do, that he'll come back for them after. And they wait. And wait.
Then the TARDIS shows back up. It's empty. They look for him for hours. Then they have to figure it out themself. They have to teach themself how to fly the TARDIS. They go looking, every person the doctor ever mentioned, every lead, every place. They can't find him.
Something happens along the way that makes them live longer, past normal human life spans. And they keep looking.
Eventually the TARDIS takes off on her own. When she lands she ends up somewhere random, and they see or hear something familiar. Something out of the corner of their eye catches them. They think it's the doctor. It's not... But it is?
And then they get close with that person. Try to understand what happened. Then that person dies. And they think they've lost the doctor forever.
Then the TARDIS takes off by herself again years later. And theres another not doctor. And then they die. And again, and again.
Eventually it's modern day, and the companion meets another not doctor, and then the not doctor is found and kidnapped by the race of aliens who figured out that something's wrong and it's not working. Then the companion shows up and figures it out and saves the day.
They bring the doctor back.
There's so much potential, especially if the human versions of him are other David Tennant roles.
Imagine a doctor who companion meeting campball Bain or hamlet, or even someone like kilgrave. Imagine the angst of meeting him in a time where that anger festered and he let it take over.
The angst of a life somewhere in the 1700's when the companion and him fall in love. (Especially worse if it's a male companion). They have a good 20 years together before the not doctor realises that they aren't aging the same as him.
They're honest and show him the TARDIS. This doctor loves the stars and is very scientific. He doesn't believe in magic or even God, which is borderline illegal at the time.
And his entire world view is destroyed. He becomes obsessed with it. A life where he saw the stars.
He reads every book in the TARDIS, twice. Then he moves on to other... Less repretable books. Sensationalized recounts of alien incounters.
One night the companion comes home and finds him praying. He never believed in God. But he never believed in aliens or magic before either.
He was going to be a professor, he was going to teach people about the stars but (Just like in flowers for Anthony) after 20 years of slow madness he asks them to take it away. That he can't stand knowing. It's too much. But he asks them to leave them, because he doesn't want to forget them.
But they can't. Like with Donna, if he ever sees them again he would remeber all of it. So they tell him of course. That they would never leave him. Then they take away 20 years of his life and replaces it with a story of deep depression and now a new found feeling of determination to start again and do it properly.
Then they take all the books and poems and scrolls, take them to the TARDIS, and then they leave.
They stop in sometimes, check on him. He becomes a professor. Gets married and has children. It's his second longest life. He dies of old age. He dies happy.
The awful irony of the doctor always wishing for humanity, always wanting that one adventure he can't have. And then he gets it and he refuses to live that life because he's obsessed with all those other adventures. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Theres also a lot of angst with the idea of it being a male companion because as time goes on he reads the doctors notes, and the books in the TARDIS, and then they start using his gadgets. The doctor's coat was left in the TARDIS and he starts to wear it. Starts to use his screwdriver. There are stories all around the world of the doctor. But it's not him. It's his companion, who holds onto his ghost so tight he starts to merge with it.
(Also an alternate ending where somehow the companion knows about the doctors future and so knows that theres all these things that he has to do. And then the doctor does actually die and the companion takes his place. Walks through what should have been the doctors life. He dies as lake seliensio, he meets all those people and does all those fixed things. All with the guide of the life the doctor would've lived. Living the life that the doctor should've. Maybe the doctor only died because of the companion, so to keep time going the companion has to do all these fixed events in the doctors name. OH the companion is from an alternate universe which is why they know the doctors future, and because the universe has a life balance and now it's wrong with there being one more person it kills the doctor to even it out. And then the companion becomes the doctor. (Ik this goes against the doctor who lore but idgaf, doctor who retcons it's own lore all the time). The possibilitys are endless. I'm just ranting at this point).

When Rosalie's son had an illness that no amount of medication or management could stop from killing him.
And she tried. she tried so hard that it destroyed her quality of life.
Her face when Campball is pretending to be manic and acts like he's going to throw himself out of the window. She watches and she's so nervous. She's so afraid that she'll lose another son.
And when Rosalie tells Campball about her son and how he died and why she has ocd. His little "oh, Rosalie :(".
Because she's a mother who would do anything she could to save her son, when he had a mother who would do everything she could to ignore his problems.
