* The battle lasts a good few minutes, several strong moves thrown at one another, but the challenger does not back down, and the mighty brawl ends with a ground shaking thud as the Shadow Flygon is body checked into the ground. As the dust cloud clears, a frail and battered mew lays fainted in the midst of a flygon shaped hole in the ground. It's not even a crater, just, a hole where a Flygon would be able to snugly lay inside and maybe turn into a dirt angel. The Mega Salamence un-megas herself, and before making her way over to Cody, pads her way up to Axel with a stern intimidating face. But she doesn't go in for a punch. No, she opts to use her words.

(???) I don't know what you did to my baby brother, but I want to know your name, and I want to know what in the name of Hoopa was going through your mind. Cody does not just turn into a shadow Pokemon like that at random. He has to be egged on. Which means you did something to him.

“Uhm, I, uhh, A-Axel,” he stammers before spinning a tale on the fiasco in an attempt to convince the newcomer that he wasn’t the spark that ignited this, or at the very least buy himself enough time to find an escape route before the truth bomb exploded.

Axel stutters some more as he takes a few steps back, coughing as the fight had bent several ribs and broken a few others. Looks like his tall tale didn’t work as he tries to spin more lies, including one about ‘mentioning Cody’s weakness in passing’, while he maneuvers to be able to grab the knife on his side quickly and readies to make his escape.

(Liz) So you overheard the weakness from the rumor mill, fine. Something must have happened, info got passed down without twisting, i get it. But here's the part i refuse to believe. I know my brother. He's calm and pacifistic under normal circumstances. Cody couldn't have started the fight.

(Liz darts her eyes downward and back forward) Listen. I have a pot of water probably burning my house down right now for trying to make ramen with it, so go ahead and run. But this will not be our last encounter. I can easily catch up to you as a Mega, but I won't do it this time because I'm feeling merciful today. But next time you even step foot near my brother without a sincere apology, I won't be.

* Liz stands there with a serious pose, with eyes that say "Go on. Make that daring escape of yours."

(Liz) And one more thing. You got any rope? I need something to tie my brother onto my back and I left my purse at home.

“N-nope no rope, never need it,” Axel quickly sputters, “I need to be on my way now.” He takes off as fast as his injuries would let him. He hoped to be long gone before Cody awakens, dreading if he’s still in range.

(@axelthezoroark) Axel @ Cody: "Hn, hn, hn, So word on the street is that a rat like you is afraid of flygons," he says as he shifts incompletely into a flygon's form, keeping a malicious grin while cackling as his illusion goes to work, "Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Unable to fight, take what's yours, instead just sit around and do, nothing. Absolutely nothing."

* Cody’s eyes briefly scale before dilating and forming an angry shape. He saw his previous form; the words, the taunting, everything. Cody, seething in rage, bit into his own lower lip, drawing blood, and not a split second after bolts forward, lunging his right forepaw clean into Axel’s nose with a rage-empowered U-Turn, and with a critical hit landing, shattered his illusion as well as his nose. Blinded with rage, he runs back over to Axel and pins him to the ground, which would be a lot easier having just knocked him down, and putting the full of his own weight of his body, through his feet against Axel chest, he took a firm grasp at Axel’s ponytail, yanking at it to pull Axel’s face toward him.

(Cody) BULLYING PEOPLE FOR THEIR PROBLEMS IS NOT A LAUGHING MATTER YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF SOMEONE YOU ONCE LOVED HURT SOMEONE YOU LOVED? WHAT IF I RIPPED YOUR FUCKING TAIL RIGHT OUT OF YOUR HEAD?!? (Cody yanks hard at Axel’s ponytail, smashing their face into his knee. Blinded by rage, he is completely unaware that he had transformed into a shadowy nightmarish mutation of the memory of the Flygon that haunted his mind, so the newfound weight of his transformed form was crushing his ribcage, and because of the increase in size, he had been positioned in a way that was now crushing Axel’s robotic forearm as well.) IT’S FUCKED UP THAT YOU WOULD EVEN FIND SOLACE IN TRYING TO SEND ME INTO A FEAR EPISODE ON PURPOSE! WELL GUESS WHAT FUCKWIT. “Heh… Heheh… So the rats got some teeth,” he wheezed, “it’s funny though… you think that family means something? Well I just feel empty… and that can only be filled by the pain and suffering of others…” his voice crackles as flames peek out the corner of his mouth as he readies a flamethrower, “heh… but why should I go kill myself when there’s so many more victims to torture…” With that he twists enough to aim and spits out his flamethrower at Cody while leveraging his robotic arm to unbalance him.

* Cody is hurt by the Flamethrower, but because of his present ground dragon form, it is not very effective, only dealing half damage, which to him would have normally been super effective.

(Shadow Flygon!Cody) FUCK!

* Cody is propelled off of Axel as a result of his motions, albeit still with a grasp on Axel’s ponytail.

(Shadow Flygon!Cody) YOU HAVE FIGHT IN YOU, SHADE-MONGER. FAMILY MEANS NOTHING WHEN THEY BETRAY YOU IN A DRUNKEN DISPLAY OF DISHONOR. I– WH–

* It is then that Cody notices his form while failing to right himself by levitating. He got a good look at his own right arm, which was still grabbing onto Axel’s ponytail, seeing the limb of a Flygon, surrounded with an aura of shadowy darkness.

(Shadow Flygon!Cody) SO YOU HAVE BROUGHT OUT MY INNER DEMONS IT SEEMS. SUCKS TO BE YOU BECAUSE I CAN STOMP YOUR ASS INTO SUBMISSION NOW. BUT WHY WOULD I WANT TO? WHY NOT JUST TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF MY FORM.

* Cody threw Axel up in the air, and flew up to where he knew he was going to pass by on the way down, and prepared a Superpower for Axel’s stomach, letting loose with a mighty fist when he was in front of him.

After getting thrown up into the air Axel knew he had to react quickly and unclips two glass canisters, they fly away as he falls. As he tumbles he spots the readied Superpower and moves to block the hit with his robotic arm. He wasn’t fast enough in getting the arm in position and locking it in place before the attack connects. The arm was able to absorb some of the attack, leaving a sizable dent and cracks in the plating, but what power was left still hit as his arm was shoved into him taking his breath as it did so. After being sent flying and tumbling across the ground, Axel struggles to stand back up, coughing up some blood as well, “Dammit, somethings definitely broken,”

After getting back up he realizes that his elbow has jammed in an unusable angle and he works to free it, prepping a flamethrower for a surprise should Cody close the distance again, his other moves are unusable while his arm was jammed.

* Shadow Cody chuckled, watching as Axel struggled to get up with their mechanical arm all twisted. Cody approached slowly and menacingly.

(Shadow Cody) HEHEHEHEHE… WE STUCK NOW? SERVES YOU RIGHT BULLY THE WEAK. ALL THE BETTER A SITUATION FOR ME TO PUT AN END TO YER PATHETIC LIFE.

* Shadow Cody rose high into the sky, and began to plummet down fast to prepare a mighty Earthquake. However, upon mid-flight, a sharp pain hit his chest. A mighty blur smacked him out of the sky midflight with a combined Fly and Giga Impact, sending them both tumbling down into a cloud of dust. As the dust cleared out, a shiny Mega Salamence could be seen pinning Shadow Cody to the ground.

(???) CODY. SNAP OUT OF IT. GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF.

(Shadow Cody) WENCH! HOW DO YOU KEEP FINDING ME?!?

(???) I put a tracker on your phone. It goes off every time it depicts that dark jank you emit every time this happens.

* Shadow Cody throws the Mega Salamence off of him, and coughs a bit before getting up, flying upward to attempt to finish what he started, but the Salamence soars upward to get in the way once more.

(Shadow Cody) GET OUT OF THE WAY! THAT ZORO–

(???) I don’t care. I’ll deal with him later. But for now, my priority is de-shadowing your ass. You’re in no mood to deal with the likes of anyone right now.

(Shadow Cody) FINE THEN I’LL KICK YOUR ASS TOO BITCH.

*** Much to Axel’s relief and/or dismay, a new challenger has interrupted the fight with Shadow Cody. As the two dragons tussle in the middle of the sky, now might be a time to enact an escape plan in case things don’t work out.

Axel froze with the new arrival before he runs for cover where he continues to work at freeing the jammed actuator with little success, “Com’on you stupid thing release dammit,” he grumbles, “aw, fuck it…” he then spews flames at the actuator to try and free it with heat.

This freed it up some but he has no idea when it will seize again. With his arm now mostly operational again he would watch the battle overhead mentally debating if he should high tail it or sit and wait.

Dravol: What is it that you F E A R?

"HAH! You think I fear something? Well I fear Nothing, absolutely Nothing," Axel proclaims, "What's a rat like you asking about-"

He stops as a crawl creeps up his back; looking around he spots a shadowy figure standing off in the distance. As it steps towards him revealing a purple lucario Axel backs away instinctively as he voices a challenge to the figure and at Dravol.

The lucario raises it's arm summoning a bow and arrow formed from aura. Axel reacts in horror as the arrow is drawn back, scrambling back to flee, "WAITWAIT, we don't have to do this," he panics, "we can just go on our merry way right?"

The lucario says something then looses the arrow. Flying straight and true it hits Axel's left arm in the shoulder disappearing in a puff of smoke but Axel keels over as an intense phantom pain appears in his left arm and on the left side of his head. The lucario disappears back into the shadows as Axel passes out, "It... didn't... have to be... this way... Nova..."

Axel moves to block the attack however he couldn’t secure the accuators on his arm before Karma’s attack landed causing the block and attack to collide with his chest popping a few ribs in the process. A nice dent left in the steel armor.

“Gah”

At this moment he could feel that his right arm is feeling a bit heavier as his strength gets sapped.

“What the fuck is going on” he mutters with a look of confused anger.

Axel then responds with Night Daze.

The move launched the vaporeon away, her body still making a few last changes. She let out a senister laugh, before stepping back, keeping her distance. He still was unaware the very air was draining his strength, and bolstering her own abilities. “You are truly a fool.” She let out a barrage of purple spikes, blanketing the area with shadow rave.

Axel attempts to dodge but it was futile as he gets speared by the spikes through the legs leaving sizeable holes in his feet, calves, and thigh; as he falls though he missed getting a spike through the back. Staggering to his feet after the attack, “You’re definitely different from the last freak I fought,” he gasped, the impalement hurt something fierce burning even, something made the attack stronger but what, “you’ve done something to cause that to hurt a lot worse than impalements normally cause.” Noticing he was close to the incendiary he picks it up and a rock and lobs the vial towards Karma with the rock speeding behind. This causes him to fall again as his strength has given out and balance affected by the injuries sustained. He slowly struggles to stand up again.

She looked up, seeing the vial and rock flying towards her, a grin formed on her face at his last ditch effort. With one quick shadow blast, she destroyed the vial and the rock before they ever got close to her, then began approaching him. “My, aren’t we perceptive?” She grinned as the spikes kept him pinned, she placed a paw on his metal arm. “A lady never reveals her secrets~.”

“Ah, fuck it,” Axel mutters before spitting a toxic goop into Karma’s face and attempting to swat at her with his robotic arm. By this point he’s given up and dropped the amulet somewhere.

She laughed as she moved from the toxic, it landing harmlessly nearby, though the zoruark wasn’t so lucky, as Karma shifted his head to face away from her, so he couldn’t do that again. “Now, listen close, you pathetic shit, I’m going to go grab my pendant, and if your stupid ass isn’t long gone when I do find it, well…” She gave a senister grin before firing a shadow blast right by his head, a crater left from the impact. “I’ll make sure to make that your head, got it?”

Axel groans before trying to get up and walk away, but the damage done to his legs causes him to fall over again; the wounds, having sealed up before this, reopened slightly and he drags himself into the forest.

Axel moves to block the attack however he couldn’t secure the accuators on his arm before Karma’s attack landed causing the block and attack to collide with his chest popping a few ribs in the process. A nice dent left in the steel armor.

“Gah”

At this moment he could feel that his right arm is feeling a bit heavier as his strength gets sapped.

“What the fuck is going on” he mutters with a look of confused anger.

Axel then responds with Night Daze.

The move launched the vaporeon away, her body still making a few last changes. She let out a senister laugh, before stepping back, keeping her distance. He still was unaware the very air was draining his strength, and bolstering her own abilities. “You are truly a fool.” She let out a barrage of purple spikes, blanketing the area with shadow rave.

Axel attempts to dodge but it was futile as he gets speared by the spikes through the legs leaving sizeable holes in his feet, calves, and thigh; as he falls though he missed getting a spike through the back. Staggering to his feet after the attack, “You’re definitely different from the last freak I fought,” he gasped, the impalement hurt something fierce burning even, something made the attack stronger but what, “you’ve done something to cause that to hurt a lot worse than impalements normally cause.” Noticing he was close to the incendiary he picks it up and a rock and lobs the vial towards Karma with the rock speeding behind. This causes him to fall again as his strength has given out and balance affected by the injuries sustained. He slowly struggles to stand up again.

She looked up, seeing the vial and rock flying towards her, a grin formed on her face at his last ditch effort. With one quick shadow blast, she destroyed the vial and the rock before they ever got close to her, then began approaching him. “My, aren’t we perceptive?” She grinned as the spikes kept him pinned, she placed a paw on his metal arm. “A lady never reveals her secrets~.”

“Ah, fuck it,” Axel mutters before spitting a toxic goop into Karma’s face and attempting to swat at her with his robotic arm. By this point he’s given up and dropped the amulet somewhere.

The owner of the pedant yelped as it was pulled free, turning towards the zoruark. Her mouth a glow as a wall of ice came up in front of the dark type. “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll give that back.”

All I see is a pest who thinks that they could take me on,” Axel chastised as he gets right in Karma’s face, “Let me tell you something there is no way you could ever have the strength to beat me, just give it up and walk away, got it runt.” As he finishes speaking trickles of purple-ish ooze can be seen at the corners of his mouth.

She growled more, the secret that the pendant held back slowly coming out as a familiar purple aura grew around her. Though one thing she did do was form a ring of water around herself. “I’m not backing down, either give it back or suffer the consequences.” She was trying to keep calm, though she did see the toxic in his mouth, making sure to get away from it.

Axel fails to notice the purple aura forming, “What, you think a little aqua ring will stop me from getting what I want, pathetic,” Axel spat before delivering a hard kick to Karma’s side, “if you have a deathwish then continue on with your puny game otherwise beat it.”

The kick sent her into overdrive as she began to laugh, her scales darkening. “That’s cute, you think you scare me. Pathetic welp.” She stood, storm clouds forming over the quiet beach as the air itself felt like it was trying to drain life itself away. She turned, her soft eyes now a piercing red, the aura now very viable. She gave a grin, a blue light emitting from behind her razor sharp teeth. “You really should have listened.”

Axel takes a step back stunned by the transformation, “Oh, so you’re one of those freaks,” Axel knew at this point he was going to have a troublesome time, however he doesn’t realize his strength is being sapped, yet. 

He takes and rolls off to one side his flask, ‘best not to have that on me’, before proceeding to dash forward and launch an overhead Feint Attack.

Yin roared as the sludge hit his face, only growing angrier as the purplish flames consumed him.

“Really?” Layla questioned from the sidelines, clearly annoyed. “You think this conflict will last long enough for that to matter? You are an even greater fool than you appear.”

Her teammate charged forward again with the force and agility to hit the Zoroark head-on.

Yin used Shadow Break!

Reacting, Axel fires off a hyper beam at Yin before getting hit by the Shadow Break and is sent flying landing with a thud .

“Now’s a good time to cut my losses,” Axel mutters before digging into his left arm.

The Hyper Beam lands dead-on, and just in time - Yin was preparing to attack again, but the impact was enough to knock him off-balance.

Layla seemed distracted now, staring pointedly into the distance. Her eyes narrowed occasionally and her head tilted, as though she was watching something that the others could not see.

Her Infernape ally, in the meantime, shook his head to regain his bearings and squinted angrily at Axel.

Before long he was off and charging again, ready to lash out with another Shadow Break despite the delay. He didn’t know what Axel was planning, nor that he might not land his hit quite in time- the Infernape’s only goal was to keep on swinging when he got over there.

Axel smirks takes a deep breath and then rips out one of the hydraulic lines right when Yin was close enough to be enveloped by what follows; a large cloud is formed as Axel’s arm seizes and the hydraulic fluid vents concealing the area, allowing Axel to dodge the next Shadow Break and make his escape.
