it really is no wonder that men hated desmond miles and the tumblr girls latched onto him like leeches and made him the fandom's favourite and whump vessel. oh, you mean there's this guy who's raised in a cult where he's taught his body is a tool, then he runs away but gets kidnapped, his bodily autonomy stripped away from him, and even when he gets rescued he still has little to no agency and has to sacrifice his body for the sake of others, and his concerns about his own health are greatly dismissed, he gets branded as whiny for even having them, gets told he's lazy because he can't physically stand for his body to be used hours on end, he's a vessel for men's stories and emotions, the only other people who repeatedly show concern for him and his needs are women, he suffers from a "bleeding effect"..... weird. idk. idk why men preferred the male lead that was characterised as a suave playboy who never cries. i don't get it.
