Barbara laughed, as Tucker scrunched up his face at Theo’s words — something he did when he was confused, or when he was sleepy. Her eyes looked back up, focusing on Theo as he continued to speak; this time he was talking directly to her. “Oh?” She asked curiously. The way Theo had made it sound, was like it was something serious. But she could tell by the smile that won over his features, that it wasn’t anything too bad. “About what?”
Tucker wriggled out of his Dad’s arms, Barbara’s eyes quickly looking between Theo and Tucker, keeping an eyes on her son as the toddler ran to grab his stuffed bunny. He then came charging back toward them, and landed on the ground with a thud; and then a scream bellowed from his lungs, as he realized what had happened. He was sleepy, and that made him clumsy, and moody, and also very clingy for his Daddy. Barbara reached her arms out, attempting to console the tiny boy, but Tucker turned away, pulling himself to his knees and crawling a little toward Theo as he sobbed.
Mouth opened slightly in an inaudible 'ahh' as his eyes examined the child's features: he knew that look all too well. Nap time was coming up soon. A smile accompanied the small chuckle that escaped through his nostrils. He ran a hand over the boy's curls without messing his hair too much.
"Well, things are looking up, numbers are good, and Greg said that, if we wanted to take a vacation, this would be the best time to do it. What do you say? Just the two of us, nice five-star hotel that we may or may not step out of?" Eyes swayed between his wife and their child, who had dashed off to get his stuffed animal.
As the toddler tumbled forward, he pulled himself up and rushed towards him, scooping him up in his arms. "Hey hey, buddy, it's okay. Daddy's here," he consoled him, one hand held the back of his head as he rocked him. "I know, I know."
