Silence: Shapes
In 2010 Filippo Minelli started taking photos of smoke-bombs in romantic landscapes to juxtapose the beauty of nature with the violence of a medium devoted to create chaos with a stunning result. These powerful images, taken in various areas around Europe, had been featured in Art exhibitions, publications and got a lot of visibility thanks to many Art and Design-related websites.
I just cried so hard watching interviews with the families who lost a son or daughter in the recent shootings in CT. I can't help but remember being young and wanting to die, and thinking there was nothing to live for or look forward to, and now that I'm old enough and mentally stable enough and grateful for my life and everyone in it, I'm so much more upset at children losing their lives. There are so many moments they are never going to experience, and as much as you can tell the families to appreciate their short lives, it's the years that they will never get to experience that is so heartbreaking. I feel helpless and I wish there was something I could do, something that could affect a politician or a President or a nation, so that people didn't have to suffer like these families. People joke about YOLO but sometimes the saddest thing is people who are alive and ungrateful for their own lives. You are alive.

40s-50s vintage and 60s-70s Western style inspire me but always mixed with something modern.”
