Before he could response with some witty comeback, Rose had already thrown herself into the middle of the scuffle. There was something about the way she moved ━ brash yet precise, and the way she sliced through her enemies while leaving their organs and main arteries untouched was nothing less than amazing. In all honesty, it's what made Jaime respect (and feel a little intimidated by) her.

Once enemy fire is directed towards Rose, he ditches the shield and takes for the air, brandishing a single sonar blaster as his weapon of choice. With the scarab's help, he has no problem taking out a few baddies on his own.

As he spoke about her crime, Ivy extended her hand out to admire her nails. She only shrugged her shoulders in reply, pushing it to the side as if it wasn’t a serious issue.

”The spores aren’t going to kill them. They are very sensitive to the small chances in human blood chemistry, body temperature, and skin impulses. That take place when someone LIES. So technically, I’m doing the world a favor, no likes a liar.”

He doesn't need the scarab to tell him that he was being mocked after all, he hadn't told a single joke to the guy and it doesn't help that he's familiar with the type of laugh the guy was making; but his actions doesn't spite Jaime, instead it makes him curious. Since he wasn't a hero, he wondered if he was just some villain or vigilante.
