Balayage

Balayage means ‘to sweep’, which is exactly what we do. 

It is a natural way of lightening by sweeping strokes of bleach delicately through out the hair to create tone, lightness and texture while leaving the root slightly darker and gradually increasing in lightness towards the ends.

Yasmin Sewell

I was lucky enough to get to tame the incredible Fashion consultant Yasmin Sewell’s locks with a Keratin blow-dry. She has a strong curl to her hair so we wanted to de-frizz and smooth it out as much as possible with out losing the curl completely but enough to be more manageable in her shorter new style.

HOW WE ACHIEVED IT-

1- I started by washing the hair in a detoxifying shampoo, to strip the hair of any residue and products and to prepare the cuticles ready for the next step.

-2 Spritz a protein spray through the hair to even porosity and help the product to evenly coat the hair.

3- In small sections comb on the Keratin solution, until all the hair is evenly coated. Cover with a plastic cap and leave on the hair for 45 minutes.

4- Rinse off the solution and apply a lock in treatment for 10 minutes.

5- Dry the hair completely and then go through in 1cm sections applying the heat from a straightening iron multiple times to completely seal the cuticle keeping the keratin treatment locked inside.

6- Hair is left for 24hours before washing and styling as normal to reveal super soft de-frizzed hair that lasts up to 12 weeks.

Olaplex..The Miracle Hair Treatment

I always wanted to invent a product that could stop hair breakage when colouring and god damn it someones only gone and done it, gutted It wasn’t me but very happy all the same to finally have this miracle product on the shelf..  

Olaplex is a 3 stage conditioning treatment that works alongside the colouring process to stop any breakage or damage occurring to the hair which means we can now bleach even the most fragile of locks with no fear of ruining the hair.

Step 1- A shot of Olaplex no1 is added to the bowl of the bleach or colour mixture, this works alongside the lifting process to enable no breakage.

Step 2- Once the development time is up, the hair is rinsed thoroughly and any toners applied at this point, then no2 is applied and combed through and left on for 10-20mins.

step 3- rinse and shampoo the hair, and then apply no3 as a conditioning treatment leaving again for 10 mins. This can be purchased to take home and used weekly to keep the hair in optimum condition.

Olaplex can be used with any brand of colour on the market but it seems all salons are charging approx £30 for the treatment and the it is £32 extra for treatment to take home, it is probably the most incredible product ever and I cant believe we have survived so long with out!

Jessie Ware

I feel very privilaged to have the lovely Jessie Ware as one of my clients, I think she is amazing !

On the eve of LFW she came to The Drawing Room where Oska gave her this cool little bob. As for the colour I wanted give her some texture by starting at the roots with a deeper shade of brown and gradually working a lighter shade towards the ends. Although it is only subtle I think it is just enought to perfectly show of her new cut.

One of the best things of starting at a new salon is getting to experiment with a whole new product range and I have already found my new ‘go to products’.

I am obsessed with KEVIN MURPHY Resort Spray

hands down the best salt spray I have come accross, it smells of holiday, it isnt sticky or to drying which I have found with other brands, its just the perfect product for giving texture and definition for a tousled, messy beach look.

They also do a cream version which is great to use on damp hair to get in at the roots and scrunch in to the hair before drying, this one is great for taming frizzy or curly hair as its always best to get a product in before it dries.
