okay, but am i the villain for laughing?
as though you could ever be a villain. dense, perhaps, but laughter in the middle of recon in unmarked territory is certainly not a reflection of your...morality. perhaps your intelligence...
àŒâïœĄ stirring the pot starters
a mix of arguments, tension, manipulation, gossiping, fighting, & general emotional messiness!
you weren't supposed to hear that.
don't look at me like i'm the only one lying.
want to tell them, or should i?
you think i don't know what you did?
i've hit people for less.
oh, i thought you already knew.
that's funny, you didn't say that last night.
say that again. i dare you.
you wanna talk about loyalty?
no offense, but if you're the last to know, that's on you.
go ahead - pretend like it wasn't your idea!
they deserve to know the truth.
you didn't hear this from me, but -
oh, so now you care?
don't flatter yourself. you were just convenient.
you crossed a line.
we had bets on how long it would last.
it's not even a secret anymore.
you don't get to cry about it now.
touch me again and see what happens.
say it again. louder this time.
you really thought nobody would find out?
don't act so innocent.
okay, but am i the villain for laughing?
tell me who else knows. right now.
this whole time, and you didn't say a word?
don't act brave now.
you're really gonna do this here?
it wasn't supposed to get this far!
you can't rewrite history.
oh, i'd never say it to their faces.
it was supposed to stay between us.
we're all thinking it, i just said it.
you're not as untouchable as you act.
do you even feel guilty?
they warned me about you.
go ahead, make it worse.
if you repeat this, i'll deny everything.
the next thing out of your mouth better be an apology.
you're about three seconds away from regretting this.
you keep pushing, and i'll push you back.
they're going to find out.
one more lie, and i walk.
they're lying to you.
you need to back off. now.
you're defending them? after everything?
don't try to hide it.
tell me, was i just a placeholder?
you really think sorry fixes this?
there's nothing left to say.
don't act like you're the one hurting.
i don't owe you any explanation.
whatever helps you sleep at night.
you should've seen this coming.
i hope it was worth it.
i told the truth. just not all of it.
you'll miss me before i miss you.
smile. you're ruining the mood.
i'd watch that tone if i were you.
it's not my fault you believed me.
you have such a talent for pretending you're innocent.
we both know this is over.
i never said i was a good person.
i thought you were different.

â oh great, it's you again. â
â you? kill me? that's funny. â
â for being someone you hate, i'm sure on your mind a lot. â
â you're the last person i wanted to see, actually. â
â do us both a favor. stay away from me. â
â you really are an asshole, you know that? â
â i'm the asshole? what does that make you then? â
â sometimes i think you must hate me. â
â i thought you said you never wanted to see me again. â
â if you want me to go, then you have to tell me to leave. â
â well, someone's cranky today. â
â well, someone needs to shut the fuck up. â
â just stay out of my way. â
â of all the idiots in the world, i'm stuck with you. â
â what is it you want this time? â
â sometimes i wonder if you're in love with me. â
â do you honestly think this is easy for me? â
â why would i ever want to be friends with you? â
â can we please just talk? â
â there is nothing for us to talk about. â
â you can yell at me later. just let me help you. â
â touch me, and you're dead. â
â oh, so now you care? â
â there is something deeply wrong with you. â
â i know i'm the last person you probably want to see, but... â
â you don't think we could be friends, do you? â
â i'm tired of fighting against you. â
â don't pretend you give a shit about me. â
â you're an idiot, but... i trust you. â
â oh, don't be cute. â
â wait, did you just say that i'm cute? â
â we're not good for each other. â
â if i say yes, will you shut up? â
â don't you have to be stupid somewhere else? â
â maybe we should kiss just to break the tension. â
â i'm sorry i can't turn off my feelings as easily as you. â
â maybe there's a universe out there where we're friends. â
â how can you be so smart yet so dumb at the same time? â
â don't think this changes anything between us. â
â you look ridiculous in that outfit, by the way. â
â if you die, i'll kill you. â
â is that a challenge? â
â ah, so you're not heartless after all. â
â i don't think i've ever seen you smile. â
â you never cared about me, so why now? â
â why didn't you kill me when you had the chance? â
â i don't even remember why we started fighting. â
â i don't have time for distractions right now. â
â you're not as bad as everyone says you are. â
â enemies make the best lovers, you know. â
he takes a break from staring over the roof of the building and uses the harness to make his way down into the alley. the city is quiet, which never bodes well, but it's been a long time since he's been gone.
were the gcpd able to clean up their act? or did crime simply take over and leave no one left? it was still too late in the night / early in the morning to discern, and he continued out into the street, taking note of the discarded bottles and cans littering the sidewalk.
he clears his throat. his gaze pierces through the haze of the night. he knows it's been years since he's been back in this place.
he wonders who's here, and who's long gone. not that he expected anyone to wait, after all how could they? even he didn't know if he'd return.
it's 5am. the birds are waking up, and the sky lighter than it was a couple hours before. he moves to sit at the edge of the building, his cape billowing out behind him. he leans back on his palms, stones biting into his hands through the gloves.
perhaps he was alone here too. once again.
._.
he stares into the darkness.
"hello."
flashgotthisâ:
Wally watched Bruce leave, up until he couldnât see him anymore, before he sprung into action. It didnât even take him a second to put on his suit. He was pretty sure that Bruce must have still been near his car somewhere when he left his flat to be on his way to the tower.
While he was always happy to notice that no crime was happening, this time he was near thankful that Central and everything else on his way seemed calm enough that it didnât need his intervention. Which meant that he made it to the Watchtower in his usual record time, even grabbing a few snacks kept there, and waited for Bruce.
At this point he was sure the other wasnât too mad at him butâŠwell, it was hard to tell with the otherâs expression sometimes.
On the way up to the Watchtower a sudden beeping, some kind of alarm, started ringing from the gadget heâd used to sync up with the monitors, and Bruce frowned, gazing at the distress signal the Watchtower picked up on.Â
It looked like the tower had picked up on a distress signal heading in their direction. He considered the potential options. Could be anything from a ship low on fuel, to a rogue ship, to some kind of medical emergency. Or, even, a trap.
Frowning, he walked out of the elevator and tapped his comm, heading towards the monitoring room. âFlash, are you reading this?âÂ
flashgotthisâ:
Wally took the sight of Bruce leaning back as his permission to finish the rest of the food. Never mind that Bruce had only eaten whatâŠone bite? Wally had been too nervous to actually keep track.
He finished the rest of the food and as Bruce stood up.
Feeling a bit rushed again, Wally stood up too and more or less threw the dirty pan and cutlery into his sink, turning back to watch Bruce go for the window. Heâd clean his kitchen, or flat even, later. âWhatever yours is, only seconds earlier. Unless I come across someone who needs help.â Which would be a valid excuse, as the Flash. âBut Iâm on my way. Iâll be there when you are!â
Bruce nodded curtly, and started to say something about Wally not needing to rush too much, considering how late he was already, but it was too late - the other seemed ready to go almost instantly.Â
Of course.Â
Bruce sniffed, and climbed onto the windowsill. âIâll see you at the tower, then.â He paused, and then added, âBe safe,â before dropping out the window without waiting for a response, heading to the car. Â
what do you mean Just Standing There Ominously doesnât count as socializing
flashgotthisâ:
Bruce didnât say anything about the food so..it couldnât have been too burned. Who knew what kind of fancy food he usually ate and here was Wally, with his hastily made food. Nothing fancy about that.
âOf course I can say no,â Wally said when most of the food was cleared away and he ate half of the pan as well. Making sure to move as neatly as possible to not look too weird while eating. It wouldnât do to gross Bruce out.Â
âBut I like helping them. My coworkers and friends.â Although they had said that they could ask someone else butâŠhe liked helping. âAnd it didnât feel like it was that much. Itâs not like I had a notebook with appointments. It just happened. Five minutes here, then there. And suddenly I was late and havenât eaten anything.â
âHn,â Bruce offered in response, before leaning back in his chair and cocking his head at the other. âI see.âÂ
Well, if the Flash - if Wally - was unable to keep his schedule on track when it counted, then perhaps he would be able to step in, in that regard. He was sure Alfred would be more than happy to send out food to Wally, either whilst at work or at home, and heâd simply have to make a note of it for later.Â
Bruce watched as Wally ate, almost gingerly, and Bruce decided it was probably best if he headed back to the Watchtower. He pushed his chair back and got to his feet.Â
âWhat is your ETA?â Bruce turned around, glancing again at the counters and tugging his cowl over his face, heading back to the window.Â
flashgotthisâ:
Finally, after what seemed ages, Bruce sat down. So Wally took the pan right to the table and put it down while taking everything else from the grocery bag out as well. And he got a fork and a knife out for the both of them as well. Surely Bruce could handle eating out of a pan.
âUhâŠyeah sureâŠMy day. LikeâŠthere was work, of course. A car from a coworker broke down so I spent my break repairing that. Which had been tough. She had been there the entire time so I couldnât really use my speed,â he explained carefully as he sat down and started to eat in between sentences. He left the pan alone however, so Bruce could eat a bit of it. âSo that was my break. And when I thought I could take a few breaks here and there from work itself other people needed things. And one thing led to another soâŠyeah.â
He let it tapper off into that, sinceâŠyeah..he had helped people. But that was about it. Those details would probably bore Bruce and they had places to be.
Bruce continued to regard Wally, expression blank, and then reached for the fork, stabbing at some of the meat and greens, and biting over the fork before resting it back down, against the pan.Â
Huh. Not bad, Bruce mused, as he chewed slowly and swallowed. And then looked back at Wally, an eyebrow raised.Â
âYouâre aware that you can say no. Even if, for some indecipherable reason you think The Flash is unable to, surely Wally West, a mere person, is entitled to refusing to expend all available energy on those around you.â Bruce recalls the times heâd read the reports on Central City, the numerous times heâd raised his eyebrow at the immense amount of work the speedster put in.Â
flashgotthisâ:
Wally felt the unnecessary urge to say âIt ISâ bubble in his chest but refused to say it out loud. He wouldnât stoop to some five-year-old behavior just because Bruce was employing weird tactics.
Which left them just..standing there. Until Bruce told him to it.
His eyes stared at Bruce and then his pan, before looking back at Bruce. âAnd youâreâŠwhatâŠstanding there and watching me?â As if he didnât already feel self-conscious about his eating habits. He had always thought it just looked like someone eating fast but having heard some of the otherâs talk about him looking weird doing it⊠He preferred eating alone after that. Or at least unwatched. âDo youâŠwant some? Sit down??â Wally cleared his throat, to dispel the strange air between them.
Bruce considered saying no, only because it seemed like the speedster needed the food, and Bruce rolled his eyes before straightening up and heading to go take a seat by the dining table. They should be heading back, and he supposed he could head back, now that he knew the other was fine.
Something kept him there, and Bruce attributed it to curiosity. Â
âIf thereâs enough. I would like to hear about your day though, and exactly what it was that kept you from your other responsibilities.â Like the basic necessities of living, and of course, patrolling the Watchtower came second, but he figured Wally was aware of that.Â
flashgotthisâ:
A tiny, high pitched âWhat?â came from Wally when Bruce called him careless. He threw that in between the small pause before Bruce went on and on. As if Wally hadnât had years of experience with his own metabolism.
Wasnât it bad enough that his own guilt was as huge as himself!!
âYou say it like I donât know it,â he finally replied, nervous about the comeback. He totally deserved the lecture butâŠcouldnât it have been about him being late? Instead about his food intake? If there was one thing, he was an expert about, then it was food.
âLook, this is hardly the first time it happened. A day is fine.â It wasnât. They kept using that stupid word. âIâll justâŠeat now andâŠ.get it over with. And then go do my job.â His meal was barely anything compared to what he had missed but..it was a start.
Bruce blinked at that, and then didnât respond, simply watching the other absently. Wally seemed upset, and it didnât feel like it was for the right reasons - but who was Bruce to determine that, regardless?
âRight.â Bruce folded his arms over his chest, continuing to regard the speedster, and let the frustration fall from his expression, leaving it blank instead. âFine. If you say so.â Bruce glanced at the frying pan, and the food scattered across the kitchen.Â
âIâll wait.â He might as well, since he was there already, and he still had questions. âEat.â
flashgotthisâ:
Waiting for people to answer was always tedious but this time it felt like torture. Not only was Bruce mad at him, and in his flat because of that, but also there was no reply. He was so done for. Hadnât Bruce said itâs fine?? How was this fine?
Nothing was fine!
Straightening his posture, Wally looked at his pan and then at Bruce, before finally looking back and hastily taking the pan away, the food done and, on its way, to getting burned. Heâd rather eat something that didnât taste like coal.Â
âIâŠyeahâŠI wasâŠuhmâŠtoday has been really busy, like insanely busy for me.â As Wally. Not as Flash. Flash could handle this easily because he was allowed to use his speed. âAnd I ahâŠhavenât had the chance yet and thoughtâŠwellâŠI figured Iâd manage a quick meal before heading up. I know itâs stupid!â Wally immediately admitted, despite Bruce not having said anything. Wally might be rambling.Â
âBut I donât know. I wanted to eat at home and maybe later at the Watchtower and I know I should have just..calledâŠbut I didnât look at the time. I just knew I was late! Iâm sure youâre sick of it already butâŠsorry,â he sighed at last and listlessly stirred in the pan, checking everything.
It seemed fine enough.
âHn,â Bruce grunted, before moving to lean against one of the other counters. Bruce knew the speedster had a tendency to take on more than he could handle, but to this extent? What exactly was the other man thinking? Busy.Â
âCareless,â Bruce added, after a moment, and then paused again, before saying, âYouâve gone all day without eating? Considering your metabolism, thatâs not only careless, West. Thatâs whatâs stupid, West.â It was irritation in his tone now, at the blatant disregard the speedster had for his own health. âItâs downright dangerous.â
