i like to think harley and peter were influenced by the two sides of tony's coin, depending on whichever time periods of their lives they met tony.

peter met tony when he was fifteen. he is intelligent and great with numbers and scientific concepts, but he also possesses tony's hero complex and willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good. peter, like tony, would throw himself in front of a bullet for his loved ones on any day. in fact, neither would dare to hesitate, and would keep pulling through if it meant that it would be the best decision of the greater good. tony gave up his life to save the universe from thanos and allies. peter parker gave up the opportunity to continue his life for the sake of the multiverse.

harley met tony when tony was still learning the ropes as iron man. he also was still greatly influenced by the past and his actions before he became a hero. harley, like tony, is great with tinkering and prototypes but mimics tony's impulsivity. he's confident, maybe even too confident, and has a quick mouth that allows him to banter and come up with rebuttals quickly. maybe he hadn't meant at first to go to tony's funeral. maybe he'd been thinking about it for as long as he could - brushing it off because he hadn't seen tony in years and did he really even know him anymore? was it worth the journey? but then, moments before, he decides to attend. an action of impulse. the realisation of what truly matters, because nothing matters more than doing good for the people you love.

There’s only one street in New York that never saw any crime. Peter couldn’t walk by it without getting chills.

If he was going somewhere, and it took that road, he took a different route. He’d rather add an extra 40 minutes and be late than have to walk through there.

Even on patrols, Spider-Man went around it. And it wasn’t like he totally avoided that area— if a crime took place and he managed to catch it, then obviously, he’ll drop down, wrap it up, be back on his way.

Be wary, though. Everyone learned real fast that when you’re committing your special crime, you definitely didn’t want to do it there. You didn’t want to force Spider-Man to meet you on that particular street.

The criminals all lived through the encounter, sure, but he certainly wasn’t friendly about it. They’d wake up in the hospital, beaten black and blue, so shaken they refused to even say what happened. Just that they were guilty, and they’d keep repeating that ‘til the cops picked them up.

Ironic, how it all played out. One normal, family man was murdered here, a long time ago. The act of violence to start all of this, and the same one to finish it. Be-all, end-all.
