rewatching civil war for doomsday and like, obviously everyone has their side but this movie is just so good at making BOTH sides of the argument so layered and understandable given the people. like of course steve is very hesitant that government agencies will do what is right when given control, given his general history with the government and the fact that the very reputable shield was found to be totally infiltrated with hydra operatives- what if steve had just trusted them blindly? and then of course tony, who made the decision to stop using his weapons for bad, would be gutted by the lives lost in sokovia- in part because no one was there to keep him in check, and demand that his team be held accountable so it’s not just left up to all of them. what if this happens again? and the fact that both arguments make total sense, and could be RIGHT depending on what framework you’re viewing them with?? like ugh this movie is just amazing.

Kind of ironic considering I'm either going to college at sixteen (just got my diploma in the mail yesterday! Ya boy is graduated from high school! Kinda crazy that people I've known online for years get to experience knowing I've graduated high school lmao) or going to Job Corp, I want to go to Job Corp because ya know, my family is broke as shit and it's free housing, free three meals a day, they got soda machines, free hygiene, free certificate in one of the areas they teach, biweekly allowance to do whatever you want with, free health care- but my mom doesn't want to let me because "the people there are poorer than us and dangerous and they'll rape and hurt you" girl we can barely afford rent, you work sixteen hour days driving for Uber because the damn owners of the job fucked you over, and you think the people there are poorer than us? Spider-Man’s Webshooters Mean Something

Everyone knows the classic story of Spider-Man, regular smart cocky guy Peter Parker was bit by a radioactive spider and through the loss of his Uncle Ben decided to become Spider-Man.

But what if I told you the symbology was there the whole time right under our noses, hiding behind the classic quote, “With great power comes great responsibility”.

The Webshooters. Think about it, that spider bite gave him strength (the standard set of superhuman abilities), the ability to stick to walls, and a sense of danger. But other animals have those abilities too like lizards, ants, bees, or even scorpions. But the webs? Those were all Peter, he chose to be a Spider, he chose not to be a lizard or an ant, or anything else.

The Webshooters represent the choice to become Spider-Man, him taking the responsibility of being a Spider. And sure the in universe reason he did it was because he was bitten by a radioactive spider, but if it just gives him the webs, then it kind of takes away the responsibility. It forces him into being a Spider, it puts responsibility on his plate.

So if he doesn’t have organic webs then he decided to take responsibility rather than have it given to him. It isn’t like the Captain America’s shield or Mjolnir, the webs are a choice that Peter makes, and at the end of the day, Spider-Man is about the choice to be a hero.

(Yes the suit can function similarly in symbology, but as I said earlier, if he was given the webs through the spider bite then he has less of a choice in being Spider-Man)

with all the doomsday chat going on i think it's important to remember that sam was actually the one steve didn't tell about his plan/say goodbye to before he went back in time, not bucky. when steve didn't come back immediately, sam was worried and confused and yelling at bruce to get him back. bucky, on the other hand, had told steve he was gonna miss him and in return steve said don't do anything stupid until i get back, which is what they said the first time they knew they were gonna be apart for a while, and when steve doesn't come back, bucky does not look worried or confused. he looks sad, sure, but he knew and accepted it. so if anyone here was betrayed by definition, i think it's sam.
