Alright, this may be the stupidest thing I have ever written.
For my English assignment, I was supposed to pick a work I am familiar with and analyze one of the characters as a Christ figure.
The best fit i could think of was unfortunately Mr. Jonathan Sims, head archivist of the magnus institute London.
I have to simplify a lot of details because no way my English teacher is familiar with the show, and safe to say it is not going well
In the audio drama “The Magnus Archives” the character Jonathan Sims could be interpreted as a Christ figure. The story follows Jon working as an archivist for a paranormal institution, but slowly he starts to see that many cases are connected and he starts to come under attack by the dark forces of the world. After each encounter with a dark force (confrontations with the devil) Jon is left with some sort of injury, mark or scar, like the wounds of Jesus Christ.
Throughout the series Jon endures considerable agony, and picks up a mark from every dark force, bearing the sins of humanity. He is tricked by an Avatar of a dark force, yet another confrontation with the devil, into releasing the forces onto the world in full power. In the final episode of the show, he sacrifices himself in order to purge the dark forces from this world, just like how Jesus Christ is said to have died for our sins.
