I just read Mesut’s full statement and I am in tears! He should not have to put up with such hate from people who are supposed to always be on his side. I will miss seeing him play for Germany but I 100% support his decision and I will 100% always support him. It’s just sad he a) even had to write such a statement b) get so much hate for doing something that he felt was being respectful and c) have to leave a team he loves because of the hate he gets. Racism is NEVER okay and I don’t see why people that that it is.
