"You have pretty eyes." Niamei mused as she and Jinxin gazed upon her newborn sister Yafeng.
Her ear twitched at the sound of a quiet voice. “Oh,” mizuko started. “Thank you, dear. At least that’s what she will say one day.” She cuddled the infant some and gently giving her kisses.
Yafeng began to grumble, as if bursts of crying were struggling to erupt. The now elder sisters scrunched their faces, annoyed at the possibility their newborn would cry so suddenly.
“That can’t helped.” Juwei placed his hand on his daughters’ shoulders. “It’ll be two years before she’ll speak.”
“You won’t understand a word she’ll be saying.” She said rocking the infant gently in hopes she’ll stop crying. Mizuko got up and grabbed the pacifier putting it in the baby’s mouth. “No crying while mommy’s holding you. Shhhh.”
Yafeng's grumbles succumbed to the addictive appeal of the pacifier.
“I never cried like that.” Jinxin retorted as she cross her arms.
“I bet ya did.” Niamei snickered.
”Hey!”
The girls turned to see Baatar Jr glaring at them.
“Your mother's trying to calm the baby down. Don't spoil it by arguing around her.”
"Sorry." The girls lowered their heads and walked away.
