1) That’s My Girl WHAT. THE. FUCK. the beat the fucking b e a t. I am lit af right now. normani’s quick part has my hair across the room and my seat soaked from sweat that is dripping out of my ass. the harmonies between camila and lauren are fantastic. a WORK out song. the olympics is already FIRE because of this song. this is a 10/10 first listen.
2) Work From Home obviously we’ve all heard this. i gave it a 6/10 on my first listen now it owns my life. 9.5/10.
3) The Life i was honestly disappointed with this initially. i thought it was too childish for this album… now after many listens and thirsty days for new music, it has definitely grown on me.. do i think it deserves a place on this album? no. (*i’ve changed my mind after listening to the whole album, and yes it deserves to be here.) that being said it is an upgrade from reflection and i think it will grow on me even more if/when we see a live performance 6.75/10.
4) Write On Me this song left me BALD. it gets unnecessary hate and im like WHY the beat is catchy and it represents a chill summer day so i vibe STRONGLY with this mastery - i wrote a text post on my thoughts when it was released saying this: “ ‘write on me’ has such chill vibes… i was walking home during the sunset and the sweet summer breeze grazing my face and this song was playing and i felt free and for me THAT’S what music is; an experience” x. 9/10. (it would be 10 with more dinah!!!)
5) I Lied it’s heavily camila centered at the beginning - she kills the chorus, but the beat i definitely need to get used to. the lyrics are pretty good. 6/10…… THEN dinah’s bridge happened!!!!, and then normani’s SOULFUL vocals and her NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhh. norminah 100% saved this song originally 6/10 now 8/10 because of dinah and normani’s parts (would be 9 with more lauren/ally)
6) All In My Head (Flex) now ive obviously already heard this one because of bbmas and dwts and i can say that it is definitely my favourite song off the album SO FAR. it’s just….. incredible. the solo distribution, the island vibe, the beat, the chill lyrics…. and of course dinah and normani lead the chorus - beautiful!!!! and i LOVE fetty’s parts too! a TOP tune. 10/10.
7) Squeeze first word i can think of as i am listening to this song is calming. this song is so stunning. this song makes me wanna hug someone on a beach with the sea breeze flowing through my hair as the warm sand caresses my bare legs. this is a phenomenal song - the lyrics, the vocals, the production. my heart is elevated after listening to this. beautiful. after listening to this i actually want to cry - my emotions are heightened. 10/10.
8) Gonna Get Better ally leads! i love the lyrics. camila kills her verse. beautiful solo distribution and laurmani’s harmonies!!!! is it caminah’s harmonies too?? INCREDIBLE. slow beat and i love it… i really expected this to be a quick song but i love it!! i dont know how i feel about the “yeah eh eh yeah eh eh” part. again dinah;s note saved my life and that whistle note !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! v cute song. 8/10.
9) Scared Of Happy love it love it love it. dinah’s PIPES and that BEAT THO DURING THE CHORUS!!!!!!!! normally’s harmoniesssssss. i VIBE with this sm!!!!! camren during the bridge has me screaming! not my favourite on the album but definitely not wEAK at all!!! i know this will def grow on me so im happy (pardon the pun?) 7/10.
10) Not That Kinda Girl i heard this yesterday because it was leaked and i couldnt resist (it was low quality etc).. but my initial thought was not to play it again….. idk lemme listen again: oh WAIT oh w a i t!!!! nope i remember now i really like the early 2000s vibe….one word: HARMONIES. the progression is lit!!! missy’s rap is lit too!!! this song has already grown on me after 2 listens!!!! also #explicit! 7.5/10.
11) Dope oooooooh not what i was expecting at all!!! the lyrics are v v nice. i bet lauren loved singing ‘fuckin dope’ lmao. i was expecting a quick song with a strong dance beat but this is NICE - again; very chill vibe. OH the second half of this song get;s going a bit and i love the change!! yes @ ally’s bridge. 8/10.
12) No Way I’ve been waiting to hear this ever since i read lauren’s interview about this song in 2014 when she said she connected with it etc but then it wasnt put on reflection and i was highkey wanting it to be leaked because i was so intrigued with the lyrics. so it’s simple to say that i have high expectations for this so here we go: i knew it was slow bc of the preview… lauren’s voice already has me feeling all kinds of emotions…..”everyone comes with scars but you can love them away.” wow. yep i love this i absolutely love this. laurmani’s harmonies wow. the production is lovely - it fully captures and emotes the lyrics. wow im speechless. i get it. 10/10
Overall: i am thoroughly scalped. please please please buy this album. it deserves so much recognition, the girls deserve the success this album is bound to bring. a lifetime of growth from reflection; lyrically, vocally, production wise, feature wise. a beautiful, diverse, and groundbreaking piece of art. this is music at its best and it justifiably reflects the number one girl group in the world. 9/10.
disclaimer: i know this has leaked, but i personally do not feel guilty about listening to it as i have preordered it on itunes and i have bought a solid copy which is being delivered to me on the day of its release. I will always support these girls… sometimes leaks can be positive too- those who may not have originally bought the album may do now that they’ve heard it. plus maverick is on the case like wildfire taking down the links- im surprised i found one to be honest. rant over: buy the album support these hard working woc.
