Game Night
There was excitement in air and laughter and chatter spilled in from the hallway and dowstairs. Rosie had put on her favorite owl pajamas and picked her up her stack of pillows and blankets. Whiskey was in her own pajamas with her own stack sitting on the bed.
Whiskey picked up Rosie’s stuffed fish and tossed it at her, “Can’t forget that!”
At Rosie’s surprised face she laughed and Rosie stuck her tongue out at her. Garnet poked her inside the room, "Are you ready for game night?"
“Is momma and dad ready?” Rosie asked as grabbed her things, stuffed fish included. She adjusted her grip on her stuff and glanced back to make sure Whiskey was ready to go.
Garnet grinned as Rosie gave her, her full attention, “Yes, the food just got here.”
“Come on you guys,” Buffy said as she walked past them, ushering everyone that was still upstairs, “they will start game night without us!”
"Come on, we have enough pillows and blankets downstairs." Garnet said as she followed Buffy downstairs.
Buffy laughed and turned to Garnet, "Have you seen downstairs, Rosie stripped the bed rooms."
"I did not," Rosie protested but the laughter from Whiskey had Rosie shooting her a playful glare.
"You did," Whiskey teased as they made their way downstairs, "you even conned me into helping."
"Rosie, I love you, but they are right." Garnet said as she glanced around the living room.
"I wanted to make sure everyone could sleep comfortable tonight," Rosie explained as she made her way to her spot. As she dropped everything she continued, "besides, I was helping momma!"
The rest of the girls dropping their things and smiling. Buffy laughing and Garnet hugging Rosie in response.
Whiskey grinned, "We know, Rosie, no worries."
Marilyn came in with the plates, napkins and silverware smiling as soon as she saw the girls downstairs, "Hope you girls are ready for game night?"
She set up the table for dinner and glanced around the room to see their handy work, "You've done a nice job setting up the living room."
She raised her eyebrow a comforter that covered one spot of the floor and gave Rosie a grin, "We might crash here tonight, since someone stripped the beds."
That caused the girls to laugh and tease Rosie more. She stuck her tongue out at them. The laughter was infectious and she laughed with them.
Owen stepped into the room with boxes and grinned as he walked to the table, setting the food on the table. He kissed Marilyn as he stood up and gave the room a once over, "I take it we are crashing in here?"
Marilyn nodded, "Yes, and it's a wonderful idea."
He chuckled the gestured to the table, "let's dig in so we can start the game."
Once they ate and cleared the table Buffy ran to get the deck of cards. Owen watched the girls in front of him and met Marilyn's eyes and smiled.
Buffy came back with the cards and set them on the table in front of Owen, "Let's play UNO!"
The game began and there was teasing and attempts to throw each other off their game. Marilyn getting Owen with the action cards and Owen trying to get her back. Buffy helping Marilyn and tag teaming against Owen. Rosie switching the colors and Whiskey trying to fix it. Garnet helping Whiskey and eventually winning.
They played a few rounds till they couldn't any more. As soon as they cleaned up, Garnet put a movie on that they agreed upon. A calm had settled on the room.
Owen brought Marilyn closer and kissed her. In this room surrounded by family, laughing, talking and being together. This is their Ohana, their family, and they will always be there.
