Hot Take:

You know that scene in Jurassic World with the footage of the baby raptors where Owen “shows signs of weakness” in front of Delta and she pounces on him, vs. Blue trying to comfort him?

What was actually going through Delta’s mind was probably: “Ah - Father is imitating a wounded prey animal by crouching down and making feigned distress sounds! He is teaching us to finish off prey! I will sneak up and pounce on his neck like a good hunter is supposed to do! But he has raised his arm with the extra hard skin on it! I can bite and claw that arm without hurting him, so clearly he wants me to show off my killing technique!”

...no but seriously. Blue being worried about him is adorable, but Delta pouncing on Owen should not be interpreted as “the other raptors were vicious monsters that would kill a packmate given the slightest opportunity.” Baby predatory animals play-attacking their parents is completely normal, even for domesticated kittens and puppies, and acting like a wounded prey animal to teach their chicks to hunt definitely seems like something raptors might do in the “wild.” The raptors in JP are also consistently portrayed as being more than smart enough to learn things like the falconry bracer being okay to attack even if Owen wasn’t intending to teach them that.
