Summer is here, let it in!

Living where it snows, we spend half the year longing for summer to finally come. We complain of how cold it is, and dream of the day we'll be able to step outside with no extra layers on.

Now that summer is finally here, soak it in! Let the windows down in your car, no need for AC. Try to turn the AC off at home too - you'll have to turn on the central heating sooner rather than later, so enjoy the warm breeze while it lasts :)

You have infinite reusable bags at home, but you forget to bring them with you to the grocery store. Sound familiar?

I personally don't like reusable bags. They get dirty and I always forget to bring them with me. While at the checkout recently, I finally noticed something that has been there for years - the green bins! I like that they hold a lot of groceries, are stackable, and can be kept in your trunk so you never forget them again. Officially my preferred alternative over bags. Happy shopping!

Does your milk come in a bag? Use the bag!

I used to recycle my milk bags, then put a brand new regular plastic bag in my garbage bins around the house. Redundant and wasteful. Finally, the light bulb went off. Stop buying new plastic bags, and use the ones from your milk instead. Alternatively, if you live in Canada, try donating the bag.

Find thousands of pet supplies at low prices. Shop online for dog, cat, fish, bird, and small animal supplies at Amazon.ca

One of the first things I've tried to do when thinking of how to minimize the amount of garbage I produce is to think of the stuff I use every day. The items that you don't think about, but add up over time. Having a dog, poop bags was at the top of my list. I discovered that it is very difficult to find dog bags which are actually 100% biodegradable, or not made of plastic altogether. So, to save you the hassle, here is the best product I could find. If you know of something even better, please let me know!

An introduction
