I freakin laughed at this bit. I love when sonic underground has moments like this, like the “im waiting.” And manic using it one time and sonic being like hey that’s MY thing. gosh im so incredibly fond of the characters

I haventttt watched sonic underground in some time I need to retrify this, urgh and last time I was watching ep, I fell asleep admist it so </3 i wannnaaaa continue watching but also got caught up in watching other stuff, and fjjdjdjdj my brain cannot be spilt between the three right now so sadly scg is taking back burner…………..

I cant decide which hedgehog is my favourite. I would have said originally, Sonia was my least but because I didn’t like her character much written-wise, I’ve come to think about her most and really like her. manic is my fav regarding I just LOVE his character type and design and he’s sooooo underused currently in the show’s story I need more of him. sonic is sonic lol. not much to say. I mean sure there are a lot of interesting stuff about his character in this show, but I mean like he’s still the sonic I know I love, and I just more focus thoughts on his sibs because they’re ya know, not even characters that are in other sonic media. so overall, it’s kinda Sonia at the moment. because she’s on BRAIN.

also my fav is always subjective because it depends on what kind of fav, and it changes forever lol

with the origin eps, it really doesn’t make sense why.. they’re constantly looking for Aleena, especially when aleena is making herself scarce, and purposely well. not showing herself. so I find it odd that the (wow I nearly said turtles, lol tmnt brain) hedgehogs have a lot of episodes where the main focus is looking for aleena or hoping to meet her. I know the theme song and what it says, but thinking from in verse — like from, the whole how aleena is never showing herself to them, how oracle is like (I wonder if they know the whole thing; I need to rewatch to make sure), it doesn’t make sense why sonic Sonia and manic are looking for their mother like that.

but I think it’s interesting to think of. like perhaps they know, but depending on much they know, and how aleena in the theme song is like she wants to reunite with them but doesn’t know if it’s the time. and if hedgehogs also know this, maybe they think that while they’re going their freedom fighters thing and fighting robotnik and his factories — they can look out for their mother, and hope to reunite with her. the oracle stuff never said exact time. as per theme song. they’re really just leaving up to fate

another thing that’s interesting is how they’re pursing her (admittedly not, from what I’ve seen, persistent but like hoping and hearing if she’s around, going to the place to see her) but still there’s aleena who could even just say something to them, but doesn’t each time! and interesting how we don’t see (so far) the hedgehogs holding any kind of resentment for that. maybe they do. But I just find that really interesting.

there’s also the matter of how all of their other parents / relatives got taken away :/ to robotize which is so !!!! to me. and how Queen aleena is the parent they have, so maybe they wanna like stay together, and fight the fight like that. maybe diff reasons you can think about…

djdjdjj Sonia and manic really need to have more like eps where they get to save the day only them. cuz it really does feel like they’re not needed action-wise lololol. sonic be doing everything. Sonia n manic r just getting captured and needing sonic to save them. I love how lmao sonic can do stuff by himself, literally most of the time action wise they are so not needed lol

A question about your comic, the inhabitants of Mobius have to choose which side they want to be to survive in the resistance or next to Rotbonick?

Well, the vast majority of the people in mobius (we’re talking at least 95% of the population) dislike Robotnik, although most people are too afraid of doing anything about it because well, the consequences are dire. When no one has yet found a way to reverse roboticization, it is certainly a horrifying fate.

As for the small amount of people who are more neutral or somewhat favourable of Robotnik most still only work with him out of fear of the consequences of non-compliance. Albeit you’ll get the odd person who does work with him for their own gain.

The resistance has zero judgement for people who haven’t joined the resistance nor of people who follow his orders out of fear for their own or their family’s safety. They are very judgy however of people who do it solely for their own gain, especially if those actions come at the expense of others. No one quite knows what should be done about those people or what consequences they should face though. They’ll have to figure that out when the dust settles after victory.

Sonic Underground Retrospective Episode 11- Who Do You Think You Are

Interesting title, let’s get started.

Gorgeous backgrounds. I’m gonna keep saying it every time I see one because they’re one of the few things in this show that are consistently high quality.

Gotta KEEP one JUMP AHEAD OF THE BREAD LINE.

Two things. Sonia has a different hairstyle- cool. Her head is colored incorrectly- not cool.

Uhh, ok. Is that face mask placed over her eye? Did the story-boarder forget the hedgehogs have a mono-eye? And where are her ears?

Why would Aleena’s journal be there? Why do the triplets even want it? What benefit would it bring them?

Is Tashistan another country or is it a region of Mobius?

So…other than annoying Robotnik, what good does smashing surveillance bots do?

I’m fairly convinced Sonia has super strength. It really confused me because when they introduced it in episode 5 it was the punchline to a joke, so I genuinely didn’t know whether to take it seriously or not. I really wish the writers explained things more.

Oh fuck no…nononononono don’t let this be an amnesia plot that’s one of my least favourite tropes next to the love triangle.

I wonder how accurate the portrayal of Middle Eastern culture in this episode is. I’m not exactly an expert, so if any of you guys can weigh in, that’d be great.

Interesting. I recall how in episode 1 Manic says he could never bear to take his medallion off, and now Sonia has an emotional reaction to hers despite forgetting what it is. Perhaps the medallions are linked to their owners mentally.

She had an emotional response to the medallion, sensed it was important, yet she sold it?

HMMM YES! This is the shit I signed up for. This song is amazing compared to some of the other songs in the show, and Sonic and Manic’s singing VAs sound reaaallly good. 

No more of this Cajun, Bible song or sea shanty crap, I want more rock with bitchin’ vocals.

…Well then. This is unexpected. No joke I write could ever live up the beauty of this screenshot.

But anyway, its that time again for Zippityzap to take a minor detail waaaay too seriously.

Either that earring is clip-on, or Sonic got a piercing just for the disguise (which is pretty dedicated) or he already has pierced ears and just normally doesn’t wear earrings for whatever reason.

Manic gets a pass because we know he has piercings in that ear (although they’re normally placed differently than that.)

Aleena’s right there! Why didn’t you run over to her? Hell, why is Aleena even here in the first place?

This whole setup reminds me of a scene from the new South Park game. That’s always a good sign.

C’mon, roboticize him, roboticize him. I don’t hate Rafi, but I want there to be actual consequences for once.

Is he roboticized?

CLOSE ENOUGH. Yes! They’ve finally had an action come with consequences! Thank you, writers!

Come to think of it, this wasn’t the first time Manic’s first time trying to disguise himself as a woman. Perhaps he’s comfortable with cross-dressing? I’ll have to think about this.

So uhh… this episode wasn’t bad even though they used temporary amnesia, one of my least favourite tropes. They handled that part quite well and there’s a bunch of things I really liked about this episode such as the song and the fact that Rafi becoming partially roboticized shows that the show is willing to allow its characters to suffer consequences, which in turn raises the stakes.

I also enjoyed the character of Rafi, he’s pretty likable, isn’t annoying like some secondary characters on this show can be, and his roboticized legs, similar to Bunnie from SatAM, are an intriguing character design aspect and is something that could be explored.

The world of sonic underground is highly interesting to me. Like what type society it is, how it works, how exactly robotnik is in power. And I am LOVING all these insights to the different people in the heirachy. the aristocrats, the freedom fighters, royalty, and the general citizens and diff parts about that…

like so far from what I watched… I loved loved the ep with the duke, and how he pays his taxes but like also funds the resistance…. and there’s Sonia’s fiancé who walks the fine line… and pays taxes and etc, but doesn’t give Sonia in when she comes to him. whether it’s because he’s just charmed by her or etc, it’s still interesting to note….

and while I am like ehhhh about how the whole oracle thing / prophecy is working out, I can see how it can work, but still djdjdjdj because oracle is very obviously op, but lol so far from what I’ve seen there’s no reason as to why he isn’t more involved. and there’s much to say about Queen Aleena…

all in all, I must say it’s absolutely fascinating…. I’m loving it…. also the robotize thing is so messed up lol. I love kids show can have messed up, dark things djjdjdjdjd.
